Let me just tell you, that this is by far my most favorite resort. My expectations weren't that high actually because of all the bad reviews I've read.

Ok, I had to make 2 reservations because the standard view rooms in the garden wing would not allow me to stay all 6 nights in one room. So, I had one for the first night, then one for the next five with all standard view. Well when Dimitra (training Carlos) was checking us in for our first reservation she said, well you guys are on the 10th floor and... (ummm, what?) you will be facing MK (but..?). She said, what are you guys afraid of heights? NO, haha! We just weren't suspecting it due to the high price for that room. Well we thanked them a million times then she said, "Well, I see that you have the standard view for the next 5 nights, lemme see what I can do."

Well, she checks us in the next day and says, "I'm sorry that you will not be in that room, but you will still be on the 10th floor facing Bay Lake." Of course this also comes to a shock, and I'm just sooo happy. I never thought something like this would happen to me. Both views are very different, but are both incredible.

Noise: I've never stayed in a hotel so quiet and peaceful before. Oh, you're probably like, no way! It was a little busy on the 4th floor, and the constuction of the building outside was loud, but after you shut the door it was pitch quiet. The only time I ever heard noise in the night was my friend's sleep-talking and snoring, haha.

Theming: In my opinion, very Disney. It is now contemporary. They just about finished the lobby on the 1st floor, and it was looking great.

Food: I know all they have is the Tempo Grab & Go, but it wasn't bad. All they had was bottled drinks and a few selections of hot and cold food, but all tasted good. The only restaurant we ate at was the Concourse Steakhouse for breakfast and it was great.

Views:

MK-I've never seen anything like this before. Going from the All-Star Music in August to this, was unreal. With this view, you also get a parking lot view, but did not affect it at all. And we also had the beds that faced the castle, so we kept the curtain open and it was last thing we saw before we went to bed, and the first thing we saw when we woke up. The fireworks were so close and clear. Worth the price.

Bay Lake-Another awesome view. Your balcony opens up to the entire lake. The only thing that was bad was the construction. It was loud and ugly, but when its finished, it should be perfect. Plus everynight around 10 the electrical water parade would come out and that was cool too.

Room: The rooms were very large and could fit 4-5 comfortably. The flat screen and free internet access were also both great. The beds were awesome. I hated coming back to my stone back home, haha. One touch I loved were the sliding doors in the bathroom. Very different. The ceilings were low in the hallways, room foyer and the bathroom. So, if someone is over 6 ft., this may be a little weird. But it was no issue.

Pools: Very nice/clean, but nothing special. The quiet pool was kind of out on Bay Lake, which was great.

Other: We also rented the Sea Racers out on the lake which were great.

Overall, it was a great experience. And next time I go, this is where I'll be staying, even if I do just get a garden wing room. I have tons of pictures but I'm gonna be adding them on my trip report, so I'll add that link later.

Thank you for you report on the Contemporary. It was nice to read a positive one. We've been thinking of trying the Cont. possibly next year. I think staying there would truly be a magical experience especially with a view of MK. Thanks again and I"m glad you enjoyed your trip!

I am a big fan of the CR. Great to hear you had a good experience.

What a great report!

DH have stayed in Garden Wings twice, and loved it.
I could only imagine the tower rooms.

The rooms are HUGE!!

CR is the most Disney of the Disney Resorts.

The others are very Disney in a different sort of way.

I can't wait until they finish constructing whatever they are constructing.

I'm another fan of the CR. What makes it so magical? A monorail running through it, the MK NEXT DOOR, watching Wishes from the ROOM (if you have a MK view tower room), Chef Mickey's DOWNSTAIRS, to name a few. I'll be back in about 5 1/2 weeks!

It's a great choice for anyone who NEEDS a hotel-like resort. I have taken my 83 yo parents a few times, and the CR is great for them. Everything is an elevator ride away; they don't need EXTRA walking after being in the parks.

And we've had 5 people in the room on previous trips, and it works great!

Glad you had such a positive post!

"Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder"......

....sounds like you've caught the CR "BUG";) ...welcome to OUR world!! LOL!!!

Thank you for the great review! :thumbsup2

I was beginning to think that I was the only one who loved this resort and all it has to offer. Watching the fireworks while enjoying appetizers are one of the main reasons we enjoy the CR so very much.

Welcome to the CR fan club! I had a great time last week myself. CR was the first on property resort we stayed in (there wasn't lots to choose from back then) and it's still one of our favorites. It may not be "in your face" Disney, but there's plenty there to remind you where you are. I really like the new rooms, and the beds are soooo comfortable. It was so hard to go from 10 pillows to one pillow when I got home. I'm going to have to go pillow shopping!

I am glad to hear you liked it. I had never wanted to stay at CR, until my family convinced me to last spring. I was sorry I didn't stay there sooner. I loved it. I think you did a great job explaining what CR is all about.:)

Thanks everyone for your replies. This was by far my most favorite trip and staying at the CR helped a little bit, lol.

Well since we had our first reservation for only 1 night, we only had an overnight bag, so no need for bell service. So we parked at the garden wing to look around.

Great pics.

Been to CG a couple of times but don't think we could stretch to staying there! Sounds like you had a great time:santa:

It's nice to see a good review. I love the pics.

It makes me very glad I booked a garden view, garden wing room on a whim for Sept. 2008. (I was supposed to book a moderate resort but decided to surprise the family with a deluxe resort.)

Congrats on the upgrade.

Klofan,

Thanks for the wonderful pictures!!!

LOL!!!!

I've currently got reservations for POFQ for 13 nights over Christmas 2008 and into 2009. I'm dying to try a deluxe resort but I'm having a hard time justifying the cost. That $3K is our spending $$$. I'd have to save at least another $100 per paycheck to pull that off. The price goes from $4100 to $7100 for the Contemporary. It IS the less expensive deluxe alternative. MK is our favorite park. Perhaps I need to consider a split stay? :confused3

Honestly, my gosh we wont stay anywhere else but CR now. We only stayed at ASMo before and I splurged since it was 2 nights and we were just attending the MVMCP. My husband LOVED it and he has always had the attitude " I will go for the kids". Now he cant wait to go back in December to CR again!

Thanks for the great report. I am really excited now, we are checking into the Contemporary on Wednesday, I can hardly wait. We have a Tower MK View reserved and I have imagined it is so very magical, and I can see from your pictures that it is.
