:sad2: I have to say I am a bit uneasy about our trip to CR in Oct..I love reading these boards, but admit to getting a little wary about the renovations that are being done there. Just how much renovating will they be doing? I have read that Chef Mickeys will be moving along with the Concourse Steakhouse. Then I read somewhere here that the arcade area may be closing. :confused3 I am soooo confused!!! We are staying in the Tower for three nights. This will be our splurge resort for the end ofour honeymoon. Anyone else a little uneasy???? Maybe I am just being  paranoid
Would appreciate any reassurance from any of you!!!

Yep! I got worried, about the renovations and I heard that the CR was booked full :crowded: (I'm going in Dec) since this is our very first trip (and I'm obsessive) and we want things to be great, I switched my resort (and I'd been booked since last August!).

Actually I do not think you have to worry....right now they are mainly doing room rennovations (new room decor....nothing like moving walls or anything) and they are doing the south wing a section at a time. They are also working on the 10th floor of the tower but I think that is supposed to be open by your trip dates. They are just moving what used to be the tower club lounge up on 12 down to 10 and the tower club rooms will be on 10 also. The good news is none of the rumored big moves (expanding chef Mickeys, moving concourse steakhouse and the arcade, etc) are underway at present and no one has really even confirmed that they are going to happen at all.

The new room decor is lovely....we are going in Nov and would love a new room, however I was kind of fond of the old decor as well....so either way is fine with me. I don't think there is anything going on that will interfere with your magical stay at all!!

Happy honeymoon.

Well, we were nervous enough to change our resort. We switched to AKL because there are too many "unknowns" of what was happening at the resort. First we read the South Wing is closed and is becoming DVC (but a poster reports they stayed there recently), then the North Wing is closed and is becoming a DVC (but posters reported they stayed here too), then they are moving the food & fun center and now they are working on the towers....etc...etc...etc.... We will definitely visit the CR after the renos are complete! Looking forward to it!

Yep, I am very nervous. We are going at the end of September and staying in the tower for 6 nights. We let DS pick the hotel, this trip and he picked the CR, so I hated to switch. I'm just hoping for the best.

I am seriously thinking about calling the CR and asking them about the renovations. I amasuming they will be frank about the renovations. I would hate to be disappointed. I loved the acracde and Food/Fun center!!!!

To be honest, I tried that route and was told, and I quote, "what renovations?" I explained I heard about the South Wing, etc...and they told me no renovations were going on. :sad2: That was about a month ago, so maybe now you can get a straight answer.

When i was there last week (the week of the 4th) I upgraded to a Tower the second day of my stay, and the CM at the Check In Desk said something like "there are floors closed off but we don't know the details"

 Sure they don't know!!! Right! They have to know something, they work there. At least every place I have every worked has a 'grapevine". Maybe they just can't talk about it. I hate the thought of construction going during my honeymoon. :sad2: :confused3

Don't Worry about the Noise Level. While I was there I hardly heard any noise coming from the Construction Areas.

We stayed in the North Wing in May and enjoyed it very much. However if this was the "splurge" for the end of my honeymoon (and I'm assuming no kids going with you right?) then I'd pick a different resort like the Poly or GF. You'd still be on the monorail and at a deluxe. Or perhaps do concierge at a place like AKL (not sure what is comparable price-wise to what you are paying)....but that would be a special treat! (I mention having kids with you as I think one of the biggest draws of staying at the CR is being able to walk to the MK - especially if you have little kids! :earboy2: ).

Unless your heart is set on the CR and you are prepared for possible construction issues why not pick another place where that is less likely to be an issue?

Why is everyone so panicked??

There are room renovations going on one floor at a time and the South Wing. Everyone knows this, It's not like they are tearing the whole place down.

Any other renovations are rumors and nothing more until someone actually comes back and says 'I saw it.'

As much as I love the boards, they are great at spreading rumors and panic. The fact of teh matter is, there is always some type of refurbishment going on at WDW either parks or resorts.

The only thing that can actually 'ruin' your vacation is if you raise your expectations to a level that cannot be met.
