I would like to know some specific reasons people get rejected from the college program. I interviewed last week and am super nervous that I didn't make it. If anyone has any insight on rejection or tips to better my chances post interview (I was thinking of emailing to add more roles) let me know. Thanks!

DEFINITELY add more roles!!! That's a huge thing! It shows that you really want to be a cast member and gives you much more opportunities based on openings. :goodvibes

I already put down 7... my top 3 were attractions hospitality and vacation planner, but I also put down character attendant, recreation, transportation and fsfb. Is that enough?

Well 7 is more than what I've heard regularly....so it's safe. :)
I put 14 down :rotfl:

Yeah I put down 15 roles, but i'm still awaiting reply, and my interview was Thursday March 26. I'm so nervous.:scared:

i recently recieved a pending letter...it said that they are checking my qualification...is this because i put down for lifeguarding and they are checking my cpr first aid and lifeguarding certs. or is it just a standard letter. I also put down recreation and transportation...should i email my recruiter and add more roles or is that too pushy

This is just a standard letter that they send to everyone who is pending. You didn't put down too many roles you'd like...that's why you're probably pending. So they're just waiting it out to see if (not to be mean or to assume) 'better candidates' will arrive. If you really want to be a part of the program you shoule email your recruiter and volunteer adding more roles. :goodvibes

From my understanding of the process they have a set amount of roles to fill in a particular time period. So they still have roles for the people who do college presentations and they are not all filled up. My GUESS is that the pending letter is for people they want to hire but the number of openings do not allow them to be hired in that time window. I think it is like that because if heard people getting their acceptance letter a few weeks after their pending sometimes even longer. I am not sure why they reject people though, maybe they didn't have a very good interview, or they did not mark enough roles or something, plus this round has been highly competitive with a LOT of people applying.

That's my two cents anyways.

I talked to my recruiter after I got rejected and she told me that there were two reasons that I didn't get in. First was that the roles I chose were highly competitive and I didn't have enough experience in those areas, and second was my interview. Apparently I didn't across how much I wanted to do the program, and how much I love Disney. I guess I was a little too professional, I tried to focus more on what they would be looking for professionally and not so much on the "OMG I love Disney!!!1!" aspect of it. :confused3 It's definitely something I'll keep in mind for next time.

Which roles did you apply for?

Hospitality was my first choice, because I'm a Hospitality major. I also chose FSFB, Vacation Planner and a couple more, I don't remember which. During my interview she asked me if I would be willing to add merch and attractions, which I did, but I guess that didn't matter.

I wanted to add a quick note about the pending letter....

Students currently on the CP just went through the "extension" process, in which students can apply to extend their program through August. Last semester they freezed the "hiring" of new CPs until they knew where the extending CPs were going to end up. With that said, my guess is that you've passed the audition (since they didn't reject you) but they're not sure if there will be room yet. After the extending CPs are placed you'll probably get word on their final decision.

Last semester 900 students extended... that's about 1/5 of the program (based on my estimation that 2000 students are probably cultural reps, ICPs, CS and PIs), so it was a lot!

Disney does not check your lifeguard certifications. I was a Red Cross and YMCA lifeguard instructor but every Disney lifeguard regardless of certification has to take the Ellis Lifeguarding Class in the beginning of your program. However, I really think it helps if they see you have lifeguard experience! Good luck, I hope you get it! :)
