CP or Fantasmic dinner package as a surprise gift??

We are taking my parents to WDW at Christmas. We will be traveling with our two preschool boys as well, ages 4 and 2.

I thought about buying them a dinner package to CP or Fantasmic. We are springing for the whole trip, so really doing both is not an option. (We are also attending HDDR)

Which would you choose if only one??? And am I wrong in assuming our DS's would not enjoy either so much? I hate to spend the money to find my two year old screaming his head off and forcing me to leave with him.

FYI, I'm planning on booking an Illuminations cruise if I can as well.

If you want to base the decision on your boys it really depends on them. Do they bore easily? Do they get scared easily?

CP is boring to little children although mine enjoyed some of it and were very well behaved. (I would compare it to going to Church) It's very nice to do to get in the Christmas spirit. We all enjoyed it.

Fantasmic scares my 3 year old very much at least when she was 1 and 2 years old... My 6 year old likes it but sometimes covers her ears as well. It's loud, there's villians and fireworks and you can get a little wet. It can be intense. I love this show though and can't wait for my children to not be scared anymore.

Both of these packages are not totally necessary depending on when you go. You can do both shows without buying the package, especially Fantasmic. That goes on every night (unless it rains).

IMHO, I'd buy the CP package (if you are worried about the line getting in and not getting a seat, although even with the package, there is still a line to get in...) and attempt to do Fantasmic without the package, especially if you are going the beginning or middle of December.

Thanks for your input. I'm leaning towards just buying a dinner package for my parents to do alone.


I may be better off to wait before taking my boys.
