Looking at a January Western Caribbean itinerary on (shhhh!) another cruise line.. I know, blasphemy, and especially since I have one already booked for February. But that aside, anyone have info to report on Cozumel since it got hit by the hurricane earlier this summer? Is it like visiting a war zone, or just a little beach erosion and life goes on, still nice? And anyone know if the hurricane did anything to Costa Maya or Grand Cayman?
Once visited St. Maarten 6 mos. after a direct hit by a hurricane--there were a couple beaches entirely gone, and the view while we were there was an off shore rig dredging and pumping sand back to begin restoring the beach--rather industrial (though St. Maarten isn't lush in many spots anyway).
And what's a reasonable expectation for weather in those spots in January (early january)? always warm like st. thomas/san juan, or iffy, like the bahamas?
Even though this is for non-DCL, will also be useful for our next Magic cruise, our first western.
Thanks.
