hey chocolate lovers,
we've been to the KaoKao chocolate place in Cozumel. We actually loved our experience in the small shop making the chocolate, etc. Is the Mayan company similar, better, etc? Is there somplace near port we can buy their candy bars?

If weve done Kao Kao, would visiting Mayan be much of the same?

Not sure on the other chocolate company, but can you tell me about the one you did? How did transport from the port to the factory work? Cost?

Thanks!

it is called Kao Kao chocolate. it is a small company. their builing looks like a converted house. we didnt have reservations. we just asked a taxi to take us there and it was about a 15 min drive. we had the tour guide to ourselves ( 2 adults, 3 kids) and she explained the chooclate making process. we each got to grind the means and make our own disc of cocoa for hot chocolate to take home. we then went to a small room and saw artifacts and read about the history of chocolate making. then we went to the gift shop, tasted some chocolates and bought a couple bars to take home. When we arrived, rhe factory workers told the taxi driver to come back for us and when we were done, he was there waiting. when we got there, 1 small group was finishing their chocolate making and as we were leaving, i think 2 small groups were arriving. It is a very easy and pleaseant trip. Not crowded, not pushy. the kids loved it and just recently they even included the experience in a school share day. We wanted plenty of time to enjoy the ship while it was empty so we only wanted to do something for 2 hrs or so. I think the cab ride was about $20 each way and entrance fee was $10-15 per person.
