Hello
wondering about the beach excursion in Cozumel? Did anyone ever do it and was it worth it and fun. We are a family of 4 and it will cost $180 the cost is not going to kill us it just seems pricy for a beach excursion. Hope to get some good feedback to this. It is number 15 in the book.

Thanks

The book numbners change all the time. What is the excursion titled exactly?

Ok, I can't find the booklet from our western trip, so I can't be too sure.

If it goes to Playa Sol, I'd say it's just ok. It wasn't the most friendly environment.

If it goes to Mr Sancho's I have read many, many good things on here.

If it goes to Chakanaaab, my parents, who sailed with us, took an excursion there and loved the place.

If it's Chankanaab, my husband and I loved that place. We didn't want to leave. :(
Others don't know anything about. But thumbs up to Chankanaab.
Though you can go on your own there and have a wonderful time. Cost was 10.00 pp I think to get in. If you like to snorkel, you'll like it. WAtch or play with the dolphins. Good mexican food restaurant..nice places to walk around.

Have a great time whatever u decide to do!

We did our own beach excursion...Mr. Sanchos was recommended to us by previous cruisers on this board before we left. We loved it...spent three hours there and could have stayed longer. You can check it out at mrsanchos.com. They have a restaurant, small shops, water trampoline for the kids, horseback riding on the beach, atv rentals, large hot tub, locker area, very, very clean bathroom/shower area. Hubby said even the mens was clean and I guess this means a lot. The food is delicious, the service is excellent.

You grab a cab when you exit the ship, a short ride and you are there. Cab ride was $15 for both of us one way...I think they will take up to 4 for the $15.

Hubby and I can highly recommend Mr. Sancho's...we loved it and can't wait to go back.

You can go to the beaches on your own for probably 1/2 of the DCL excursion.

You can go to Playa Del Sol (where DCL's excursion goes), or Playa San Fransisco or Mr. Sanchos or Chakanaab via taxi for less than $30 round trip. Some of the beaches have an entrance fee (maybe $10/per person)and renting a couple of chairs and floats and umbrella will cost another $10. Up to $80 so far. You can buy a lot of food and drinks and play on the equipment that some of the beaches have for that next $100 that DCL wants to charge you.

I would try doing your own beach excursion on Cozamel. Less money, your own schedule, and you can go to the same place DCL and many of the other cruise lines go for a beach day (Playa Del Sol) if you like crowds.

webray, sounds good. One question, horseback riding on the beach...does that mean there are horse droppings on the sand and in the water? Or is it a seperate beach area? Sorry, two questions.

Although there is horseback riding at Mr. Sancho's, it is NOT on the beach, for the very reasons that concern you. There is no horseback riding on the beach anywhere in Cozumel.
