Besides interacting with the Dolphin's at this excursion, what else do you have time for. It says that it is a 3 - 3.5 hour trip, can you stay longer if you want?

Thanks so much.

If you book through Disney, then you do what they do and leave when they leave. I just did the dolphin adventure swim last week and booked it on my own through "Dolphin Discovery". I actually went to Paradise Beach when we first got off the ship and then took a taxi to Chankanaab for my dolphin adventure. Was worth every penny of it and there is a beautiful park that you can enjoy afterwards. Write back if there is anything else I can tell you :)

Thanks so much toopure4you. :flower:

Who did you book the Dolphin Discovery through? Also, I had chosen to book the excursion through DCL because it is just my son & I traveling. Do you think it is safe for just the two of us to get in a cab? I'm not too paranoid.

we did the Dolphin Encounter with Disney. They take you to a taxi stand with 30-50 other guests doing the same excursion. The taxi drivers are prepaid and they take you straight to the park. When you get to the park you are given a time to report to the dolphin encounter (we had about an hour to kill). You show up for the encounter and are taken to it. When you are done you again have time to enjoy the park. They have prepaid taxis every hour on the half hour to take you back to the ship. There is a swimming area as well as a replica Mayan village at the park. You can see a sea lion show (additional fee) also. We felt very safe in Cozumel and enjoyed the park. The big thing you cant get with Disney is an actual swim with Dolphins. The encounter puts you in waist deep water where you get to pet kiss and watch the dolphins as you learn a little about them. Some people book their own because they actually want to get out and swim with the dolphins.

The short of it is you get as much time in the park as you want and have plenty of time to get back. Taxis are safe and prepaid (unless you go back someplace other than the pier). Stay in the touristy areas follow normal commen sence rules you follow here about safety and security. Most important have an awesome time..we did. pirate:

littlemuffin....it was just me and my son and his gf as well. We felt very safe the whole time. Where we picked up the taxi...there were tons of people that were waiting for them and more times then less, you ride with other people. You can pick a van so that you are sure to be with others or you can wave down a car and they will take you there. I booked through....

without the spaces of course but some of these sites dont let you post web addresses. The whole trip was wonderful....we taxi'd right to Paradise Beach, then taxi'd to Chankanaab and then taxi'd home. None of the drivers spoke english but knew what beach or park you were asking for.

Good luck :)

I second booking on your own at www.dolphindiscovery.com We did this in Oct of 2003. We did the Royal Dolphin swim and it was worth every single penny. We got to do a dorsal pull, be pushed up in the air by the dolphins and some other things. Myself , DH, dd 7 at the time and DS 8 at the time. We bought the video they shot and we still watch it today!! The royal swim is not offered thru DCL only the encounter, if I recall correctly the swim was about the same price as the DCL excursion or a few dollars more. It also included entrance into CHaanknaab park. We felt very safe in Cozumel, of course we are of hispanic descent, so that may of had something to do with it.
