What do you do in Cozumel at night? I read that the Magic does not leave the port until 11pm? Is it safe to walk through town that late? We are planning to go to Paradise Beach. How long can we stay there? Being there in July, it should stay day light quite late!! I should add that it will be myself, DH, and DSs ages 14 and 15.

Thanks,
Karen

Oh yes, you can stay in Cozumel at night. All the activities are basically a short distance from the port.

We took all our souveniers back on the ship..freshened up and then went out to finish looking around. Then we had dinner at Carlos and Charlies (right across from the dock), before going back on the ship.

It is wonderful...you can see the magic all lit up, sitting in the water.

Just a warning....Carlos and Charlies can get a bit rowdy (and raunchy at times) in the evening...it is a restaurant, but also a very popular bar.....with many different cruiseline employees (not just DCL) as well as tourists.

After 7:00 pm or so I would not take the kids there but the adults would have some fun!!!

Our best entertainment in Cozumel was sitting in our balcony the hour before we were to set sail. Watching the parade of "Tequila-happy" cruisers stumbling back from C&C was hilarious.

In fact, the line back onto the ship got long and extended to the other side of the dock where....you guessed it - some gal fell into the water. She wasn't hurt and they fished her out right away. (I think the crew is prepared to do that once a week!) She was very angry that she dropped her souvenir "yard of beer" glass. She became the mark for our Cruise Director for the rest of the cruise.

Steve

I guess we cruised at a quiet time..Carlos and Charlies was filled with families and older people...it was great. There were some young people dancing and having a good time also in the bar area...we sat in the dining room area though. I would have no problem taking teens there..they would love it.

We had early seating for dinner so afterward we walked to Sally's mini-golf and had a nice game on an uncrowded course!

If you don't have children w/you....CARLOS & CHARLIE'S is the place to be and it is walking distance to get back on the ship. Just don't forget to set your watch to the time change! Lots of FUN! Have a great trip!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

This goes for Senor Frogs too!!! Last August we went to Senor Frogs at 3:00pm and I was shocked at some of the things that were going on that early in the afternoon :scared1:

What happened at Senior Frogs? We wanted to go there with kids and the one in Nassau Hilton was very nice.

Well, when a customer paid for a shooter and the waitress would pour the shooter down customer's throat (not too bad), then would roll customer's head around (still not too bad), then the waitress would (1) if the customer was a woman grab her breasts and give them a squeeze; or (2) if the customer was a man grab his crotch and give it a squeeze.

Now, I'm not a prude by any means but to do this in front of young kids (and there were quite a few in addition to my 3) is what shocked me. This was, BTW, at 3 in the afternoon. HTH

Oh, that is one of my favorite memories of Cozumel..... having the BEST dinner on the outside patio of Carlos & Charlies and seeing the Magic all lit up.... Especially the "MAGIC" on the side of the ship. It's truly a wonderful feeling. Eating a WONDERFUL, GREAT FULLFILLING meal...... (ugh, can you tell we were sick of the food on the Magic). We SAVORED the dinner and our surroundings knowing that we may never ever be in Cozumel again.

We also got back from our excursion and cleaned up and went to shop then sent the kids back (well, I waited for a table at Carlos & Charlies - my DH hailed a cycle cab ride to take the boys back to the ship and settle them in -11&14).

Yummy.... the dinner was fulfilling! We were so happy thinking that we didn't have to endure the same "steak, fish, chicken" so blandly served back on the ship! And yes, in the back of Carlos & Charlies it is very ...ummm. animalistic to say the least... but hey, those younguns looked like they were having a ball and I knew they wouldn't be spewing out any of that drunkness barf stuff in my cabin ;)

Awww.... ya have to buy DH a Carlos & Charlies shirt! And a lighter, and a magnet, and a hat, and a shirt for grandpa, ............;) I think I get it now...... the young people get hussled for alcohol, I get hussled after a couple of those BIG margaritas and I'll buy some stuff cuz I"m old and I can still remember where my credit card is.....and back off shot lady...... stay away from the man sitting across from me! One "back off" look and we were fine! So soon after we ate - we were otta here! To sthop for tisherts mann! Boy, do those big margarites sneak up on you!

Ill take all thish.... (with a wave of my arm) Alllllll theeees, where's my husban? Oh honey, pay for allll thhhheeesssstufff. You can't go to Cosumil and not get a shuurrrt, trusshhh me.

We had so much fun and the best thing was eating off the ship. Then riding a bicycle taxi from the restuarant directly across to the pier and looking at the beautiful Magic all lit up! And loving that we ate a great meal and we were not hungry! And I wish I would have purchased more silver - silver earrings and rings - especially for Christmas presents!

Seeing the Magic lit up at night is beautiful anywhere!! Sounds like you had a great time at C&C.

I'm looking to purchase some silver jewelry. Was there any place in particular that you purchased your jewelry or that you could recommend? I'm also picking up vanilla for myself and for some friends back here at home. TIA :)

Lisa :)

We had a blast in Cozumel. Spent the day at Mr. Sanchos then back to the ship for clean up and dinner. The younger kids (9-16) stayed onboard while the older teens (18-20) went with us "old Farts" to Carlos and Charlies. My 18 yo nephew had barely walked in the door when an "older" woman was all over him (later found out she was 25). Course he thought it was great while his mom (my sister) was not too happy and sent her dh after him!!
We had drinks, some had the whole shot routine (none for me thank you), we danced and people watched. It was funny to see the CM's get really crazy.
The walk back to the ship was fun and yes, the Magic looks great all lit up (as were some people!).:smooth:
