my friend asked me to do this for her.. okay well she has liked this guy for a long time, she tries to talk to him online but she never knows what to say. so she was wondering if any of you have some good conversation starters for her. Thanks!

I dont really know conversations just come naturally to me.. like I cant predict what I'm gonna say.

.... (nobody talks for like 35 minutes"
"Okay well, I'm going to bed. Nice chatting with you. G'night"

I usually never start the conversation.
I get pissed when people start talking to me, because it's usually someone who is OBVIOUSLY bored and really has no interest in talking to me.. and they know we're not gonna have a conversation.

haha, when I get in weird moods, my AIM conversations are the most bizzare things ever, so I'm probably a bad person to be replying to this thread.

but I mean, she should say something that will actually start a convo. Like "oh so mr/s. whoevers class was so lame today, did you notice that giant wedgie he/she had? so gross." I mean, thats probably going to start a pretty rockin convo.

The only 'real' convo's i have is with my ex boyfriend so i can't exactly give advice!!

But if she knows him well then she could talk about something they both like to do...

I'm terrible at talking to guys. There's this guy I know because he's always at my grandma's pool parties 'cause his grandpa knows my grandpa or something. So we were just swimming around for like fifteen minutes and then my awesome conversation starter was....

"So..."

I am a genius. But we actually hit it off right away and talked for like an hour.

I'm bad at starting conversations. If it's during gym I talk to people and be like "I hate running." Then they go "me too!" then we talk about gym grades. Which gym grades lead to parents, and parents lead to tons of other stuff.

Doesn't work if the person is shy though... .-.

I'm normally shy but when comes to talking I'm great! I just be myself and talk about something like 'I am obsessed with peanut butter' 'Mmm, I love peanut butter' 'Not as good as Reeses' and then we talk about hershey and chocolate and the hershey chocolate song etc etc...

lol, i suck at starting out convos... and im usually never the first to start one.. but the odd thing is that i can carry out a conversation for hours.... even though about 99% of the convo will be totally useless and random... and mostly weird... i just kinda say whatevers on my mind, which can be waaaaaaay out there a lot of times....but hey, awkward silences suck so

i'm pretty bad at starting conversations, especially on IM. They always start the same way!
Me: 'Hey how you doin?'
Other person: 'Good, u?'
Me: Good thanks, wubu2 (what you been up to)?
Other person: Not much, you?
Me: Not much either really...
ha, so i'm not the best person to ask! But small talk is usually the best way, just ask what he's been up to recently? And if he's really shy then he'll say not much but guys will actually give an interesting response e.g. played footie..and then from there you could say 'oh cool, what team do you support?'.
you can't really plan a conversation, you just have to go with the flow!

After the normal "Hi, How are you, Wuu2" shannigan, I usually post a funny youtube video and chat with that person about it. Or I like say "You see that [programme] on tv last night! [person] was so [insert adjective].

I'm not a very good conversation starter usually anyway
