Covid Protocols I am going to miss on DCL

I am just as happy as the next person that things are trending back to normal but there are a few DCL Covid protocols I am going to miss.

• Being served in Cabanas-
  I wish there was a way to keep this and go back to the variety they had pre covid at the same time. I liked not having a ton of people touch everything. Personally I think it felt healthier.
  
  
• Private Tables-
  Obviously a lot of us (not all) liked being guaranteed a private table. As the ships fill back up, I'm going to miss this one
  
  
• Pool Limits-
  People really complained about the 15 minute time rotations but personally? I liked it. No more human soup. People could actually move around. Oh well...
  
  
• Spaced Seating in Theaters-
  I loved the cast members showing you to your seats (no more people crawling over you to join their party last minute) and I loved that they were seating every other row and three seats apart making most seats have a clearer view of the stage with no one to block them. I know it couldn't stay as ships filled but I appreciated it when it last.

What about you? Any Covid changes you are going to miss?

Absolutely - I would prefer to be served in Cabanas. It helps mitigate other virus transmissions also and is just so much more sanitary. On the flip side, maybe putting it back to self-serve, they will increase what is being offered. I also will miss being seated in the theaters by a cast member. It stopped most of the nonsense of seat saving. We always ask for our own table and have never been denied (we are late dining, so maybe that helps). I also really liked not having a jam packed terminal. I hope once the testing stops, they will better moderate the flow of passengers in the terminal.

Funny you mention this one. As someone 6'3", when we were on the Magic in October, they made me sit in that last row in the Movie Theater (you know, the one with zero legroom), so I'd have to go out, wait 10 minutes, then come back in to hopefully get a different seat..

That’s really interesting because I saw a few families decline seats that they were assigned and they just kind of held them off to the side until the next row became available- both on the Magic and the Fantasy this winter. Maybe they adjusted since October.

The only thing I will miss will be guaranteed private tables. I like the new muster drill, but that seems to be here to stay, so yay!

Not for me. I prefer self-service buffets, and can go either way on the private table.

I don't really care for crowds (does anyone?), so sailing at reduced capacity was nice, but I won't miss the physical distancing protocols themselves.

I'm cool with Cabanas either way...but if it's served they should call it what that makes it - a cafeteria. There is no such thing as a served buffet. Buffets by their nature are self-serve.

AGREED!!!! I've tried it before and was faced with people who had no icea - or more likely just didn't care - about the "please limit lounger use to 30 minutes if there are people waiting" bit AND couples who didn't realize they were not in a PRIVATE hot tub. I was willing to splurge on the private thing. But I'm not willing to pay even the daily rate for shared.

I am with you on the buffets, to often people use their hands or wipe their nose, lick their finger and grab a utensil. I know that buffets are supposed to be self serve but it seems so much more sanitary to be served and so much less food waste.

The private Rainforest room for sure! We were lucky enough to do it 4 times and we much preferred it to the old day/length of stay passes.

We did the private rainforest room in October on our first day of the cruise and it really was a special experience.

I don't know that this was a covid protocol but I enjoy having the live piano music in Royal Palace, which was new post covid. Hopefully they keep that.

I really enjoyed being served at Cabanas, but felt that the selection was a bit repetitive and the variety was somewhat limited since basically they halved the line and duplicated food in the other half.

I did not like the theater situation all that much; skipping rows meant that the shows quickly filled up. We missed a Jon Armstrong show b/c they had run out of seats ... very annoying. (We arrived 15 min early - it just wasn't quite early enough, I guess!)

I will miss cruising at half capacity or less!

Private tables for sure. We are a family of introverts and dining with strangers is not our fav.

My daughter really liked the small group structure last fall! She liked having a built-in group and a CM assigned to her group. She was also find with the "back to normal" we experienced in April, but super enjoyed getting to know CMs and other kids during the small, scheduled group arrangement.
