Cove Cafe - What do they serve?

We haven't been on a cruise in over a year; is Cove Cafe the former Common Grounds? Can anyone update me on changes since Aug. '03. It sounds wonderful.

Does anyone know who is in the Cove Cafe now? Miguel and Carolina were there when we cruised last year and they were fantastic. Just hoping they may have returned.

Sorry everyone! I received some updated info since my last post on this subject and as it turns out Lourdes was aked to stay at the Cove for her next rotation. So, if you head in, be sure to ask for her! She really is wonderful!

Yes, the Cove Cafe on the Magic was the former Common Grounds. When the Magic went into dry dock last fall this one of the changes that was made to it. From what I understand, they will be making the same changes to the Wonder this fall.

How about hot chocolate? We had a friend in a coffee place that used to make us the most awesome HCs, with steamed milk, and flavored syrups. If they can do this at the Cove I could be in serious trouble.

Mojito.....take a glass with a little ice, mint leaves and lime, and rough it up.....then put in sweet and sour and bicardi lemon, and top off with 7up/Sprite.

We made them last weekend and did a pretty good job. They made them at the adult pool bar in Jan, but in May the only place I could get one was the Promenade bar--had to do with where they had mint leaves. Unfortunately, in May they weren't very good.

In Jan, I had a lot of people look funny, and rather disgustingly, at my glass. They really don't look very good!

A traditional Mojito is mint leaves, lime, rum, soda water, a bit of gomme syrup (also called simple sugar syrup: equal parts sugar and water mixed into solution), and, of course, ice.

I have seen them made with Bacardi Limon but never Sprite or 7-Up. Of course, there are about a zillion different ways to make just about any alcohol drink and it just depends on personal preference on which you like.

This is one of the reasons why I think Lourdes is so special. On our cruise, an aquaintance of ours was drinking them and Lourdes would run to other parts of the ship (maybe the kitchens) and bring back the mint leaves, specifically so she could make the Mojitos for him! :) Now I call THAT service! ::yes::

Rough it up? Do they take it out back and teach it a lesson? Show it who's boss? :hyper:

Yeah, and I just stood there and let them!! ;) Its a great drink, but better with the ocean breezes on your face! :boat:

I would use soda water instead of 7up or sprite.

Lourdes will make a Mojito perfectly. ::yes::
