just got back from dw stayed at marriott in dd disney for 4 night and then to po french quarters for three night ..i have to say for the 20 night special at courtyard i wish we stayed there all 7 nights...the rooms were much larger...coffee and coffee pot in your room...we stayed in a tower room ..free usa paper every morning...the breakfast buffet was so good for 7.99 a person it was cheaper than shoneys...and much better food....now to po french quarter...had to ask for coffee pot...but got no cups or coffee....there are no hair dryers in the room..had to ask for one....the shower had no pressure....and the maid sevice was knocking on your door at 8 in the morning and trying to rush you out of your room....ive always tried to stay onsite and have done so many time...but if all disney is offering is a small room...at twice the cost why stay there. the bus service for marriott was as good as disney...andthey also had a manager happy hr from 4 to six free beer and sodas..and nachos....so anyone booked at the marriott dont worry go and enjoy....one more thing..it may not be important but the only channels besides the ones disney owns on the tv are..nbc cbs and fox..all the others are disney owned noting to watch at the end of the day

I agree!!! Courtyard DD is the best kept secret in the village. Why spend a fortune staying onsite when you can get great deals offsite. The offsite have to try harder and looks like its paying off!!

but I think people feel like they miss so much when they do not stay on property....seems to me the only thing they miss is saving money.....strange isn't it.....we will go to sales and shop only when there are good sales, but will go to Disney World and spend money like there is no tomorrow.....

Our experience was very good, too. We got in for the $29 rate last year. I would highly recommend it for the price.

Our Disney experience is actually better by doing an off-site at these rates. The money we save for the difference allows us to enjoy better dinners at the parks and/or resorts. We get more souvenirs, too. I don't feel guilty about it because we saved the money difference from a Disney resort. We use a room mostly for sleeping; so, the Disney ambiance isn't as important to us.

Keep in mind these rates may not be available forever. Take the plunge now while it's there.

I will be checking in next Friday the 20th! I am so excited to keep hearing about all of these extra perks :D

Does anyone know or have any guesses as to whether the Courtyard will offer any of these wonderful rates during the mid-March 2003 time period, or are they typically just offered during the off-season? We're looking for a good-value off-site hotel and would love the Downtown Disney location, but their current special only goes through the end of the year.

We loved staying at Courtyard, but we are very much looking forward to our stay at PO-FQ. We don't care about the coffee, hairdryer or USA today... and we love the theming, atmosphere and the Disney transportation. Also, the rooms are really not ALL that small. We feel we get what we pay for at PO-FQ, and the fact that we discovered the Courtyard was a great perk. It wouldn't keep us from staying on property, though.

To each his own!

Typically, it seems this resort will run a special for a certain time out like 4 months then they may stay cool for a little while and then back to another special. There's been no recovery in Orlando of major significance; so, I predict there will be more discounts in the first half of the new year.

Also, I think you can get the best of both worlds by staying at an off-site and doing on-site on the same trip. We like doing it that way. We go to alot of places when in Florida, not just Disney. Most specials off-site involve weekdays and go up on the weekends. The one thing so far that Disney hasn't done is increase their rates on the weekends compared to the weekdays. So, guess what? Weekends at Disney!
