Courtyard Downtown Disney Questions

I saw a great rate for this hotel and need some info on it.

1). It claims to have complimentry transportation to the parks. Are they Disney transportation? Or just glorified hotel trams that many off site hotels use?

2). How close is this place to DD and the parks? Is it really right at DD? Or in the area? As in, can I walk out of the lobby and be at DD?

3). I've read lots of good things, any negatives?

Thanks! :p

I stayed there last August for the great rate also.
Used the buses only once - picked up right in front of the restaurant
and pick up at the parks was in the parking lot. They share the
bus with some of the other downtown disney hotels. Didn't have
to wait at all.

The hotel is on what they call Hotel Blvd - with all the other Downtown disney
hotels. I wouldn't want to walk to the downtown disney market place from
any of the downtown disney hotels but
have heard some people have.

We had a great room - tower room facing pleasure island so could see the
fireworks at night. Was better than what I was expecting.

I saw that rate!!! tempting to be sure!!!

we stayed here last December and loved the convenience of the buses. they are on time, cool, and easily accesable. we parked our van and let someone else drive all week.

go for it.

That is a VERY tempting rate! Anyone know if Courtyard guests are eligible for e-nights if they are back in August?

Yep! That was one question I asked yesterday when I booked. 10 nights-under $400-all taxes included! YIPEE!!

Quickgold-
for a college student and Disney lover you cannot pass this up!
We stayed there in Nov at $25 a night and it was great. The room was large and very clean, though plain. Nice amenities- coffeemaker in room, hairdryer, safe, iron, etc. Had a buffet breakfast downstairs (6.95) and restaurant, lounge, arcade, pool, hot tub. We used our own transportation, but the parks were VERY close. About a ten minute walk to DD. Do not be shy with requests. We requested a high floor in the tower , NS,over looking DD and that's what we got. I don't know if the rate is double occupancy or if up to 4 adults can share the room. I would only go with another true Disney fan. For five nights (sun-thurs) would be a little over 100.00- 50 if split two ways. Have fun !!!!!

Susy, according to my mother, you would not be a good influence on me! :p

I am so tempted to go on this trip as I can pay it off if I work for 4 weeks at my current rate. The real problem is finding someone to go :(

What is better, a view of DD or PI? I know they're in the same area, but having a direct view of PI versus just DD is the question.

We were on the 8th floor and could see the cirque de soleil tent , so you if you request to overlook DD (and a high floor in the tower) you would pretty much see it all. From our balcony we could see fireworks from Ecpot -when I could stay awake. I was usually passed out at 8:30. Nothing compares to staying onsite, but $20 is REALLY good deal for that property. Take your mom. If you convert her to the Disney Way you will forever have a traveling companion who can pay her half!

Just wanted to extend a GREAT BIG
THANK YOU! To my fellow Disneyholics!

I called the Marriot today convinced there would be no
openings for the days I had in mind... But lo and behold!
$20.02 a night for 4 nights! Sweet!
August 11th-15th :)

I am thinking about booking this for our stay this September. I know the Sun-Thurs. rate us $20.02, but what is the Fri and Sat rate?

$99.00 rate for Friday and Saturdays. Cancelled our resv. at PO and changed to Marriot. Hope we won't be disappointed. We decided to pay the $99.00 for Saturday night, because we really want to see Spectromagic in MK. Spectro usually only runs Saturday nights at the end of August. Still only $199.00 for a 6 night stay in DW. Can't beat it! :p

Regarding Courtyard's bus transportation: For MK, do they bring you right to MK or to TTC? How about the other parks.....right to the same entrance as the Disney busses go? Thanks for the info!

If you stay at the Courtyard, do you still have access to the Kids' Clubs? DH and I want to eat at Jiko one night and thought DS could stay at Simba's Cub House for two hours or so. Can we still use the club even though we are not at a Disney hotel? Or since this is located in DTD, is that ok? Do we have to pay more?

Thanks,
Hentob

This excerpt is from an email sent to me in response to some questions I emailed to Courtyard by Marriott.
"Transportation to the parks begins at 8:00 a.m. the pick up is at the entrance of our restaurant, different shuttles will take to to all different parks dropping off at the entrance of each park, with the exception of Magic Kingdom where drop off and pick up (from the park) is at the ticket and transportation center." The Marriott spokesperson's name was Monica Sameen.

Figment:

Thanks so much....this was exactly the information I needed!! For $20/night, I think I can live with being dropped off at TTC 1 or 2 times. :)

I made my ressies today for the 11th - 15th of August... I was able to get the 20.02 rate for 3 of the 4 nights, and there was another discount I qualified for for the Tuesday, so although it ended up costing a little more, it was still a great rate!

Does anyone know if the complimentary transporation goes to DTD? We aren't going for the parks, this time, more of a scouting expedition for places to live. Our evenings will be free, and between the pool and DTD, we should have a great time!

When we stayed there last year I believe they did go to DD but we always walked. A really pleasant 10 minute walk to the Marketplace.

It might be easier to walk to DD. My mom was just there a few weeks ago and they went to Celebration. I don't know what your budget is, but I would check it out. I know I can't afford it!

FYI - I just called and was told that every Sunday in the month of September is sold out for that rate. :(

We were thinking of going for a weekend, paying regular price for Fri & Sat, and getting the special on Sunday - but there's nothing left.
