Coupons - where do you find them?

Where do you find your best coupons? It seems that the Sunday paper is no longer the best source (or at least in our area) sometimes we get one flyer or maybe a P&G flyer. But that is it. Thanks,

Our Sunday local paper is horrible too. Most times, there are no coupons. If there are coupons, there's more ads than coupons and the coupons stink. I used to use Krazy Coupon lady. But I use it less and less. I've tried looking online for other sites but it just seems you have to create an account, log in, etc...for a lot of nothing. If you go directly to a company's website, say Pampers for example, they usually direct you to Facebook. In that case, you have to be a member, log on, etc....and from I've been told it's a lot of junk. I was a big user of coupons and find it very discouraging for a while now.

The Sunday papers here are pretty good for coupons. There are also 4 different Sunday papers and sometimes one will have better/different coupons than the others.

In magazines, there are usually coupons

Grocery store aisle --- those little boxes that they sometimes put in front of the merchandise have coupons

Friends who don't use coupons

Weekly free "pennysaver" paper

Coupon websites are "OK" but I found that I was using 2 pages of ink just to print one page of 3 coupons! I will only print coupons off the net if they are high value

You can also contact the companies of items you frequently use or items you want to try. Many will be more than happy to send you coupons.

The Sunday paper here is not that great anymore for coupons either. I used to get it delivered every day. I then stopped since I had no time to read it. I would also sometimes get it only o Sundays since it was worth it just for the coupons. No more. Not only are there hardly any coupons, but all the coupons expire right away.

I think those "Extreme Couponers" may have had some impact on why there is a decline of coupons. Companies put out coupons to encourage purchases and also to encourage you to buy OTHER stuff (at full price) thus allowing them to continue in business. By buying $1000.00 of "Stuff" and spending only $35.96 on it, businesses aren't going to continue to put out coupon deals like they used to.

Much like the reason people were saying why the Target/Paypal/Red Card discounts for Disney Cards (where people were saving 20% or more on Disney Gift Cards) ended up killing it for others. When these things happen often enough, the businesses need to change their strategy.

It's always an "US versus THEM" type of philosophy. We want to pay less money and they want to make more money.

We still get several in our local paper, but as other said above, the coupons aren't that great and expire quickly. There always seem to be a lot of hair care and make-up coupons in them.

Honestly, the best 'coupons' I get now are from the app Ibotta. I have saved $40 since June. I love that they offer rebates for any brand item. For example, you can buy store brand paper towels rather than Bounty, etc... and still get the 20 cents back.
I also use Checkout 51 and Snap but they are not nearly as profitable for me.

I always love people who use coupons for things that they would not normally buy. Especially those "Extreme Couponers". Saw one who had several hundred packs of diapers yet they had no kids. In fact they were single.

While that is extreme (and really a waste on so many levels, but that's another discussion), there are also those who, for example, normally buy VO5 shampoo at a normal value price, but because they have a coupon for Pantene will buy the more expensive one. Now I am okay with it if you want to "Try it" but to just buy it because you have a coupon? Nope. It's a waste (at least for the "Budget minded") to buy something more expensive (even after coupons) when the lesser priced one is what you would normally use.

Budget minded to me means a whole lot more than coupons. As another example, I needed some "Flossers" just today. I went to the store to get some. The Store brand ones (which I am ok with) were 2.49 where the GUM brand name ones was 2.99. However, at a closer look the GUM brand had 150 where the store brand had 90. They don't go bad and I regularly use them so it was a clear choice to buy the 2.99 (at about 1.93 cents a piece) as opposed to the store brand ones at 2.49 (or about 2.8 cents a piece).

Love coupons and manufacturers hope they sway you from the competitor brand to their brand, but unless it is a value, I ignore them.

My mom saves all the coupons she gets in the mail for me but majority of my coupons come from coupons.com. I have noticed a major decline in paper and printable coupons over the last two years. I agree that the extreme couponers probably ruined it for everyone.

Many stores around us are also limiting the use of Internet Printable coupons. The quantity AND the amount. A lot of forgeries out there. It's nothing for a "Savvy" computer guy to make a coupon that looks legit but put a value of $5.00 on it. While the bar-code may not work, when that happens, most unsuspecting cashiers would just enter it manually.
