Coupon with National's Emerald Reserve?

Has anyone used a coupon with the new Emerald Reserve from National? I'm trying to reserve online and it's telling me that when using a coupon you can't use Emerald Reserve but have to use Counter. It's a $15 off coupon but the error message tells me it's an Upgrade Coupon - maybe that's why Has anyone rented recently and used a coupon without going to the counter? Thanks

Forget it. I had been trying so many different combinations that I think I just confused the system. I cleared the browser cache and all is well.

Were you able to do this? I have an entertainment book coupon for a 2 class upgrade, so I am wondering if I could make a reservation for a compact, use the 2 car upgrade coupon and get Emerald Aisle. Could I do that with a coupon?

Gayle, or other experts? What do you think??

wow, that is a good question.
You might try making a reservation with this coupon and seeing where it lands you. Select Emerald Reserve when prompted on the screen and see what happens. I have never used an upgrade coupon at National, so, I really don't have an answer.
BTW, Emerald Aisle is only for Intermediates now, you would qualify for Emerald Reserve with a two class upgrade, which from a compact would be a full size car.

I used a $ off coupon with EA Last Feb, but personally, I never trust the upgrade coupons. Their fine print seems to always say "subject to availability." If I NEED a bigger car, I can't trust that it won't be available. If you can settle for a compact, maybe give it a try though.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did go and try it (cleared my cache first just to make sure!) aaand did get bumped to counter. I am probably going to wind up cancelling the ressie anyway for the compact, as the difference b/t a compact and intermediate is only $9. For that, I may as well just go to EA and be done with it!
