What/how do you store your coupons??

I currently have one of those cardboard coupon thingys with the different pockets. I'm having a problem because coupons for the same product are spread throughout the same pocket. I'm also missing some coupons because I'm not paying as much attention to the expiration date. I'm not using the coupons (or passing them along) because I'm thinking the coupons have longer or the items not on sale and by the time it is the coupon's expired. This became very apparent today as I was going through my coupons to get my list ready for Kroger. I have about $40 worth of coupons to use this week but it took longer than it should have because it's not as organized as it could be.

So, what do you do to sort your coupons and keep them organized?? Did you make it yourself or purchase your organizational system somewhere?? I'd like something reasonably sized so I can still keep it in my van and take it into the store without it being such a huge burden to lug around.

Thank you for any suggestions you could give me!! I would certainly appreciate it!

For exp date, get colored highlighters.
Color by exp date.
For example coupons that expire between 4/1 and 4/15 are blue, 4/16 to 4/31 are yellow...

Use the sites that do the coupon match ups for you to help pull coupons. That way you know what you are looking for. If there are no sites for your store try a coupon data base. I find this much faster than complex binder systems.

and hotcouponworld for a good searchable coupon data base.

I didn't answer the how I organize. Alphabetical by manufacturer. Seriously. Sales are always for a specific manu/brand family so it makes sense for all my "Post" cereal coupons to be together and since it is under "P" for post I know where to look. Keep It Simple.

Thanks for the suggestions! I didn't think about alphabetically! That would help as well.

I certainly don't need anything complex at all - if it's too much like work I won't be nearly as excited to do it! :rotfl:

I'm also going to check out the site you suggested.:goodvibes

I use a 4" 3 ring binder and baseball card holders.

I have a "pencil pocket" in the front to hold my scissors, MIR forms and any thing I don't use that often. I use the pockets in the front and back to hold the coupons that I know I will use for that trip and to hold receipts. I have the coupons organized by items. Each one has its own page: Makeup, Razors and Lotion, Body Wash/Soap, Deoderant, Shampoo, Feminine products/Bandaids..... including food items fruit/veggie/nuts, canned goods, rice/pasta/beans, boxes mixes....

Extremesoccermom: You are a genius! My coupononing has gotten quite extreme and I am having difficulty juggling a few of those coupon organizers. I am always fearful I will drop one and have a ton of coupons flying all over the store. I definately need to copy you! :thumbsup2

Wow that book is amazing!! I'm not quite to that point (yet!) but that's just awesome!
