Couple Questions

Hello Everyone. I am going to California with my parents and brother in August (they are rescuing me from my DH and 3 boys for a week) I've been to Disney World many times but this will be my first visit to Disneyland. As it stands we are planning on going to Disneyland for me (they aren't as huge of Disney Fans as I am.) Anyways...I had a few questions. We will be going to DL on August 29 and I was wondering how the crowds might be. That seems to be right on the line of when schools start...I'm thinking most of them shoud have begun by this time (at least in Indiana they will have)...but wasen't sure about california. Second...How much time should we allow to get a good seat for Fantasmic. I know at DW we got there and hour and fifteen min. early but don't know about DL. And lastly...how jerky and shaky is Indiana Jones and are there any hills on it. My mom can handle shaky stuff to a point but once she hits that point she's done and I don't want to take her something that would make her sick. Thanks Everyone.

1) Late August is very nice crowd wise. It's not empty, but certainly not crowded whatsoever.

2) During busy times, it's necessary to get a seat 90 min in advance. However, during that time, for decent seats at the early show, I'd plan on 60. For the later show (if they are running a second show), 45.

3) Indiana Jones is the same ride system as Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom, so assuming since you've been to WDW, and you've ridden it, base your judgment on that. If you have never ridden Dinosaur, Indy is very jerky and bumpy; however, there are no roller coaster type hills or drops where it feels like your stomach is in your throat. One of the more intense rides at the resort (ride wise and theme wise)

Thanks so much for the reply. I'm glad to hear the crowds won't be too bad. The fantasmic timing is what i was expecting (same as wdw)...and it sounds like my mom had better avoid Indiana Jones. Thanks so much for the info.

Indiana Jones is not shaky, but it is like a roller coaster in that is has some jerkiness and speed. It is nothing like teacups or anything that spins. The settings are wonderful and not to be missed. Have her take a bonine before she goes "just in case". Space mountain and Star Tours make me queasy, but not Indiana Jones if that helps.

Thanks for the info. Star Tours made my mom queasy as well but she did pretty good on space mountain (until it broke down and we had to finish the ride with the lights on...that freaked her out and she hasen't ridden it since)...i'll give her this info and let her make the call that way she she can't blame me either way. Thanks.

Indiana Jones is very jerky. I generally only ride it once per trip because more than that kills my bad back.

I am such a wimp and Indy is one of my favorites.I don't even ride any of the mountains, that's how bad I am.So, don't sell your Mom short..she may love it. I know I do.
Fantasmic. There are no seats unless you pay for the dessert buffet (worth it IMO just because you get a chair) The crowd for this starts very early. It's nice if you can stand by a railing or something so you can at least lean. :) IO just love this show.
I hope the crowds are OK..it seems it is always crowded now.. are there no slow times anymore???
Have fun!

Just a warning...late August can be REALLY hot in SoCal! Keep hydrated and have a good time!

Thanks you guys. I'll let my dad know how jerky indy can be because his back isen't in the greatest shape. We are planning on watching the fireworks from main street and then going to the second showing of fantasmic. I know that should be less crowded...do they do the dessert buffet for the second show as well?

They did last year, but no buffet, boxed treats only. We come from a place that is hot in the summer so the SoCal temps do not bother us. Over 100 on the car temp outside mid August.
Have fun ,,,I am 60+ and love IJ, we did it 21 times last year. Daughter always tries for a new personal record, I just ride along.

Personally, I don't think I would ever do the dessert package. For like $45 you get what?
-A box of desserts
-A seat for a 30 minute show

:confused3

$ 45? I wish. ;)
In November it was $ 59.

The box of desserts was delicious, but nothing out of the ordinary.

We decided to do it as a one time treat because we thought it would be our last time to Disneyland for quite a while. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have paid.

Oh, well that just helps my point out even more! ;)
