I just phoned WDW Tours to change my DH Segway tour from 8/30 to 8/26 which I thought was from 9-11am. Originally we were told to be there at 8:15 to get ready for the 9am start. Well I was able to change my date without a problem, but she said, "which time would you like - 8:30 or 9:30?" Well I was caught a bit off guard, so I said, lets go with 8:30 and then I asked what time he had to be there and she said 8:15. So, it sounds like there are 2 start times (8:30-10:30 and 9:30-11:30?), but does he really only need to be there 15 minutes ahead of that time? Before, it was 45 minutes ahead?
Also, I'm hoping that our family can see DH on the Segway. If we sit outside UK or Canada, will we be able to see him go by about 15 minutes before end of tour?
One more question - will I be able to just drive into Epcot (we have an AP) and just let DH off near the gate?? Thanks, Jo

If your DH does the early tour, World Showcase won't be open while he tours. Segway Central in is the same building as Fountainview Bakery and that's where he'll really start and end the tour. Everyone going on the tour will meet at the Guest Relations near Spaceship Earth and then move to Segway Central. He'll spend about an hour learning "Segway Skills" and then tour World Showcase. The tour guides will probably snap a picture in Italy. If you want to catch him somewhere between Honey I Shrunk the Audience and Segway Central may be good.

We too have APs and had to wait for the parking lot to open! It opened at 8am and we did get a great spot. I bet they would let you drop him off too. We had to wait in the far right line (marked with a blue "Princess Breakfast" sign), but the list for the tour wasn't at the gate. They were quite strict and wouldn't let us in until someone from Guest Relations said just to write our names down.

I think your DH will have a great time. I was worried I wouldn't be coordinated enough, and figured it out in about 2 minutes LOL. DH says it was really fun, not comparable to any other Backstage Tour.

Jo-Anne: I just realized you and I have had other "connections."
Maybe we should coordinate our trips!

I really hope you and your family have a great visit.

My nephews (17, 21) just returned last night and did the Segway tour last Thursday. They LOVED !! it and even gave me one of their segway pins as a thank you :) . I had booked them into the later time (9:30) slot and was concerned about them getting the full hour in the countries. The only problem they had was not being allowed through the back gate (from BWV) until it opened at 9 - the CM there kept insisting they would have no problem getting there by 9:15. The boys were a little worried (perhaps I had "over-reminded" them a bit ;) how important it was to be there on time - they tend to oversleep) , so they said they jogged all the way (they hadn't been in Epcot in many years and were nervous about finding their way). They made it to guest services in time - only had 6 people in their tour (one guy touring with them was from the Segway Co - they really enjoyed him!). They got their full time in WS, even after it opened - it was one of the highlights of their trip - now I can't wait to book the tour and surprise my DS for his 16th b'day - he has been waiting to get on a segway since the day they were unveiled !!:smooth:

in june i waited for dh over by canada and got great video of the tour coming right by us.... what dh did was call me on my cell while they were taking their 'photo break' and let me know he'd be by that way in about 15-20 mins.
