Couple of questions....

We're heading to DLRP for our anniversary (me and OH) on the 4th May for 3 nights staying at Newport Bay (booked with the 40% off, woohoo!).

I have some questions....

Our flight is due to arrive at CDG from Glasgow at 11.35am so we're looking for the best way to get to the hotel. To be honest, I think we'd prefer spending 10 minutes on the train than an hour on the bus but due to the cost of the train I'm unsure. Looking for someone who has experience of the train? The nearest available train is at 11.52 which I'm unsure we'd make. What would happen if we did miss the train? Would we be allowed on the next one or not? The next one isn't until 1.07pm so we might be better off taking one of the shuttles (I've looked at RS Transports and PariShuttle). How long roughly will a shared shuttle take?

I've been looking into Half Board options as well. Do you really think it'd be worth it for just the 2 of us? I quite like the fact that it includes your 3 courses, however, a bit disappointed at the range of restaurants although for 3 nights dinner the choice is probably more than sufficient. We're also looking into going somewhere "special" for the night we arrive as it's our anniversary. I see many people have mentioned the California Grill but I doubt we'd be able to afford that? Can anyone recommend somewhere in the HB options?

Ooops forgot one more thing, how does the HB actually work? Do we get a separate menu we can choose from? Or do we just get to choose stuff of the menu up to our chosen amount?

I'm expecting the weather to be a bit hit-and-miss at the beginning of May? And how busy do you reckon the park will be? Our hotel booking was on 3 yellow days.

Sorry it's so long but thanks for the help :)

I would think that you would not make the TGV. By the time you clear security and navigate the airport. The VEA shuttle therefore is probably the most cost effective and simplest option :goodvibes

Yeah didn't think we'd make it :( Does anyone know if I booked through either PariShuttle or RS Transports would it still take around an hour to get to the hotel (VEA states around 45 mins)?

It took us between 30 and 40 minutes in a taxi, but I guess it would depend on whether you had to wait for the people you were sharing with.

Which half board option are you going for? You can use your vouchers at face value in the restaurants that aren't covered fully, so you're not totally limited. You would just pay the extra iyswim? If you were going for HB+ I'd consider Walts for your "special" meal.

Can't help with May, but we went the beginning of June last year. The parks were pretty quiet during the week, but very busy at the weekend. We were also booked on yellow days. HTH

We booked RS transport both in 2007 and 2008 and - even if we had to wait both times - once because the flight was earlier the other because the driver had been waiting at the wrong terminal - we were more than satisfied.
The trip takes about 30 mins (if you dont get stuck in traffic of course) and the shuttle brings you straight to your hotel when the VEA stops at every disney hotel.
We shared the trip just once - on the way back and it was with one dis-er so it was great :goodvibes

Thanks for the replies so far guys :) I'm now thinking of getting the VEA on the way out and the train on the way back.

Still undecided about HB though!

Ive never got the train as I only thought the VEA was the option. When we go in October we go on the VEA again.

Do you just walk on the train then and is it in the CDG airport area. Thinking for next time.

Hi there. We used half board vouchers for the first time this week. I think they are brilliant value and would definitely use them again. We are a family of 4, but my parents bought them too and were very pleased they did. We all bought the standard vouchers.

At table service restaurants you are offered a set menu, although you can usually use the vouchers at face value if you prefer (ie my Dad who is diabetic didn't want the 3 course option so opted for a main course from the main menu instead).

Put it like this- you can pay around 12 euros for a mediocre counter service meal of burger, chips and drink, or buy a half board voucher for £13 that buys you a far better quality dinner in Annettes, Silver Spur steakhouse etc (although the price of the voucher will have increased a bit by the time you go). As said, my Dad also used his standard voucher one evening at face value which was worth 19 euros - I thought this was good value too.

I would say most definitely go for it. If you can only stretch to half board standard vouchers, then I would recommend the Silver Spur Steakhouse (in Frontierland)-we all agreed our meal there was excellent (review to follow on the restaurant thread!)

Happy planning :goodvibes

I don't take the TGV from CDG to DLRP - but I always take the train from DLRP to CDG on the return journey :goodvibes . Its so easy, and means we can spend an extra hour or so in the parks before heading home.
Its usually VEA or rstransports for us on the way there, and the TGV on the way home.

The TGV is in terminal 2 at CDG, but you will have walk from your landing area to the TGV station there. If you land at terminal 1 or terminal 3, you'd take the CDGval internal train service between terminals, then you're only 2 escalators away from the TGV station at terminal 2.
