Couple of questions about DHS Fantasmic dinner

I know we are going to want to see the show when we go in May.

I hear the wait will easily be 90 minutes. Is that a wait in line or you have to get there that early to get a seat and then wait for the show? I also read that you can take food into the show arena. IF we can get seats it might make sense to pick up some CS and have a little picnic while we wait for the show to start. But I don't want to actually stand in line with two kids for 90 minutes.

My second idea was to do the dinner package. I'd really like Mama Melrose. BUT I have a kid that needs chicken nuggets. I've looked (various boards) and have seen basically the same menu with slight variations. Only one of the three I saw listed chicken nuggets for the kids meals. There's NOTHING else on the menu he will eat.

So, if he won't eat anything there...I thought about just packing him some pb crackers and the rest of us will eat and he can grab some nuggets later. Will him not buying a meal cause him to not get a priority seat for the show?

Any thoughts? advice?

TIA
Amy

Otherwise, it'd be no problem for you to do Mama Melrose for the Fantasmic Dining Package - I would think that they would let him come with you guys.

We've done the Fantasmic dinner package twice at Hollywood and Vine and once at Mama Melrose. The Hollywood and Vine was a place my kids really enjoyed. They liked being able to pick and choose what they wanted from the buffet. Even my very picky mother in law found lots of food there that she enjoyed eating. Mama Melroses was also good but the amount of food we had there was enourmous! I think I probably dozed through half of Fantasmic after a long day in the park and a big dinner.:)

I believe the dinner package is available for the first show (if they are showing it twice that night). As a package holder you will still need to be there early, just not as early as others.

Without the package you could arrive around 6:15 for a 7pm show. You could then sit on the bleacher-type seats and have a picnic having food your kids will eat. Besides what you bring in, there is a counter-service there that serves mostly snacks like popcorn, beer, sodas, water, etc.

Also, the seating area for the dinner package is not the best viewing location. As the floats go by they are sync-ed to music and you will see them slightly out of sync because you are way over to the right. I prefer waiting in line and then eating while sitting down prior to the first show.
