This is a brand new 'carribean themed resort. Looked it up on internet and it looks really nice - I am really picky and this may be something to check out. Can get regular room for $81/nt (regular $169/nt). Anyone stay here? Couldn't tell but think they also have patios/balcony.

There was a huge thread on this hotel. It received all good reports from all that have been there so far. I would call the hotel directly and see what the rates are withthe entertainment card discount(Phone number is on another thread withing a couple of pages). A bunch of us have gotten big discounts(std room for $39.50) I am going in Sept and have the kidsuite reserved for $54. I suggest doing a search on Country Inn or Calypso Cay. You should get good results!

Awesome, can't say enough about it. Breakfast great, pool nice. Loved that i paid 39.50 with an entertainment card.
Kid's suites left a lot to be desired (sorry Singitalto) they are exactly the same size as a standard room with two double beds, just without one double bed.

It took us less than 10 minutes to drive to WDW everyday we went.

Iowagirl- I remember a post (maybe from you??) saying the kidsuites were cramped, but you know wnat happens when the kids have their heart set on having their own little area. I couldn't talk them out of it. I'm happy with them getting their own beds and us having our own. I'm not fussy and we are used to living in a small area. I'm sure it will be fine! At least I kinda know what to expect, better than expecting a real "suite". So thanks for preparing me!

We used valuetrips.com to book our stay at CI&S for September we got a rate of $54 for a king suite we thought this price was really good for a new hotel and breakfast included. We are really looking forward to our stay.

After reading umteen posts about Comfort Inn at Calyso Cay.. I must say now that I have some concerns.

1) I found the old thread about this hotel and followed a url link
to something called "valuetrips.com .. but if you
do a search on "Country Inns", you'll likely find the old thread ..
Anyway, I tentatively booked a week through them, but it says
that it takes two days to get any confirmation. In making the
booking, I accendentally booked 2X. I e-mailed them and called
and as of this evening, no response. Has anyone dealt with this
company direct? Are they reputible? Does CI&S honor the price
and have you booked for with them very recently?

2) I've heard many poeple talking about the King suites and if
they are truly "suites", meaning that the bedroom is a
seperate room from the living room. If that's what they
advertise, that's what I expect.

3) I've read that this is a rather new property and that there
has been construction as recent as this Spring. Does anyone
know if the construction has ended (heard they broke ground
for a La Quinta on the property) I don't feel like waking
mornings listening to that

4) I assume the hotel like most is on some major road. Assuming
I do stay here, should I request a room poolside??

Thanks in advance

We just did two nights on our trip in May. It was clean and new. We had a king suite. You walk in and there is a small room with a couch, chair, table with a lamp, tv in an amour (sp?), and a table with two chairs. The bath is in between the front room and the bedroom. There is a door that divides the two rooms. The bedroom had a king size bed with a second tv and table and chair. There was no balcony. There were three pools, one was with a water slide and a zero entry area. This pool also had a bar set up there. If you look at the pic from the Calapso Cay web site, the pool looks larger than it actually is, but it still was pleasant.

There also was a bar set up across from the bathroom area that had a small fridge and microwave. You get a coffee pot with coffee, also. The breakfast was very good.

There was no construction when we were there. The hotel is set back from 536 a bit and we did not hear any road noise. We had a pool view and did hear pool visitors late at night when I was trying to go to sleep. Otherwise, quiet.

We have used Country Inn and Suites twice now. Once here and then in Kansas last summer, both with positive stays. When I called to make this reservation for May, I called the hotel directly and was told there was no vacancy for the nights I wanted. I called the 1-800 national number and got reservations without any problems. The reservation was honored at the hotel for the price booked ($69 Friday/$99 Saturday).

Hope this helps! Happy planning!

Thanks for your reply. Actually, it helped a great deal. Sounds lke it pretty much a large room that they've just separated into two rooms. I suppose expecting a true suite for under $100 is not too realistic. I've been spoiled by the suties at the Trump Taj Mahal in AC. Now .. this was a SUITE and then some ..

Now at the risk of being seriously anal, are there any sites that actuall list the square footage of rooms? I know that some of the travel books (Fodors, Frommers, etc) pick a few hotels that they reccomend and give the actual size of teh rooms in terms of square feet. This is actially good because I've seen some cases where oner hotel is offerering a "suite" that is actually smaller than the standard room at another hotel. To be honest, it's the space I'm looking for. If the suites at Country Inns are two small cramped rooms, I'm just going to keep my ressies at Springhill Suites in Marriot Village.

Now I know that a great many people don't spend time in the room as it should be. Where ever I travel be it Europe, South America or this country.. I'm going to see what's outside the room not in .. but being in a cramped room that seems rather beat up and tatterered does have an affect on the tone of teh vacation. Ultimately .. you are going to return to the room at some point and use the amenities, if any exist .. so I am always trying to get what I feel is the best bang for the buck. If I were wealthy and money was no object, I still might be inclined to think the same way and might be even a bit more anal ..

Once again .. Thanks.. Let me say that no matter what room I eventually end up in and what sights I eventually see ..

I LOVE THIS BOARD!!!!!

In response to the question about Valuetrips.com. I wanted to book at the Valuetrips rate but I didn't like the reservations system on Valuetrips.com where you fill out your information and then they email you back in a couple days.

On the Valuetrips website for HIFS there is a column called "Value Code" and I think in the column it said VTRIP. I called HIFS and asked for code VTRIP and the person in reservations knew the rate right away and I got the Valuetrips rate. This way I was able to book direct with Holiday Inn and not worry about the "middle man". Valuetrips probably still got their commission as well since I used their code.

I'm not sure if there is a similar code for CI&S but if you are uneasy about dealing with Valuetrips you may be able to call and give them the code or ask for the Valuetrips rate.

Alde, do a search on Country Inn and Suites. I do believe I read the room square footage somewhere here before we went on our trip last month. It was so much better than a regular hotel room, but not the suite you probably were thinking of.

I did use the valetrips code when I reserved the kidsuite at Country Inn and Suites for Sept. I just called and asked for the vtrip(I think- sounds familiar) code rate. I got the rate that was advertised on the website that way(just like dtauer said).
