country bears Updated???

Does everything have to be PC nowadays? How did I ever make it through my younger years. I have gone through alot and seen alot of things that should have rotten my personality but I am just fine. I saw both bear reviews and found that both shows had some good songs. I would like to have seen them in both shows but the one in DL is gone so that won't happen. I think if people would stop to understand things instead of tearing them down because of PC then I think we wouldn't have the problems we face every day. Blood on the Saddle is an old cowboy classic song. I think if you concentrate on the bear part and not the content of the song then you would enjoy it more. I am confused you say you read alot of books, watch PBS, and watch Disney channel. I would think that you would not have a good time at the parks. At the parks it is mostly visual and tactial and not much on the inward side of experience so I would think that you would forgo this experience. I read, go to concerts, plays, watch PBS, and I still love the bear show as it is. I like the Chirtmas show because of the decorationas and the trees.

Arrgh...the good ol' days... :smooth:

Well if they do change it I hope they change it after our trip in Oct. The show at WDW was the original show at DL that was changed to be PC.(now if you want a pc park go to DL). I have been telling my kids about the blood on the saddle song forever and I can't wait for them to see the same show I did when I was their age.
I'm so tired of this PC stuff. The PoC at DL was change to be PC because it was sexist to have the pirates chasing after women, and that was one of the funnier parts of PoC. If you don't want to ride certain rides, fine, that is your decision. I personally believe it is a WDW is somewhere to have fun and leave the "pc" world behind, and have made the choice not to psychoanalyze every little thing in life. And believe me if you do this there will be nothing for you to ride.

OK, not adding much here, but to say that my family LOVES the country bears as is.

We have a dog named beauford that i have gone after several times for doing wrong. DS's favorite way to get me to calm down is to sing "momma don't whip little beauford". Gets me laughing like crazy and forgetting that that mutt just ate an entire ham off my counter top!

By the way: DH can't see the Bears without serenading me with "my girl ain't pretty but she don't swear none" for the rest of the day.:D

The CB's are good clean fun that is meant to be taken very tongue in cheek. If thats not your thing, you may want to avoid most of Frontierland. (SpMt is not based on the most politcally correct movie on the planet as well, but is a classic that shouldn't be messed with either. IMHO)

We love all things Disney- would never forgo it as a matter of fact we have been 14 times since 1993. At least once a year sometimes two or three. Ok so if I had said the ride was lame and old instead of wanting it PC would I still be being flamed. Because that is really what I meant. I am really enjoying this dialog and how quickly people jump to conclusions and to think I would not enjoy the parks because I read and watch PBS and Disney really what a leap. Oh well as we said to each his own- I may go to the CB again just to giggle at how silly all this was but I just hate that blood song LOL.:p Enjoy the parks I can't wait!!:Pinkbounc

Forgot to say we loved the old PoC and Splash Mnt it was not really the PC thing it was really just that I found it lame and somewhat inappropriate- I understand it was old country jokes but I would like to see it revamped but now I sure hope it dosen't happen or all you people will hunt me down :p

Doing a little back peddling?

You specifically stated that you thought it was inappropriate for small children and asked if it had been changed.

I really don't see how some (myself included) could have interpreted your comments differently.

I asked changed to what. You really didn't say (until now). However, when you asked if there were rides that I'd like to see changed, I gave a few examples.

If you had stated that you thought it needed to be updated because it was old and lame (and you didn't care for the Blood song), that would be competely different than what you originally said.

Jeez, emmagata, why don't you give her a break? She asked an innocent enough question. She doesn't like the attraction and wanted to know if it had been changed. So what? She doesn't deserve to be harangued about it.

Enough already with shooting the OP we don't want to get blood on the floors (sorry bad joke).

There are bigger things in the world to get upset about (like them closing Pooh in May for rehab so the rumor goes). As you well know from being on these boards for a long time everyone has their own opinions and concerns.

WHAT??????

Closing Pooh (for rehab)??

Hopefully it will be open when we go in November.

While I agree with the last part of your reply, people should realize that when they state their opinions and concerns, they should be prepared for a rebutal.

Especially when it appears that they've changed their tune mid stream.

I don't think people are prepared to be cross-examined when they ask vacation questions.

There is a post further down on this board about the rumors of Disney closing Pooh for rehab. I hope not until after the 12th atleast. DD will be so disappointed!

Maybe I'm just used to hanging out on the Debate board.

However, I don't think I've been particularly harsh (nor pompous as you state).

Whoa!

SHE asked the question if the CB had been updated to a more PC content.

To me, that was a LOADED question.

It's not like she was asking if it had received a new paint job or the stinky hand bars on Splash Mountain had been replaced or if they solved a frequent breakdown problem (like COP).

I only asked what she meant by PC.

So shoot me for wanting to know.

Emmagata- I was just clarifying what I had meant. I was so surprised by the backlash of my comment so thought I should clarify- call it back pedalling if you'd like. I did not think that it was a different question as you did. It makes sense to me you hang out at the debate board but since this is not that I was honestly surprised. I asked the PC part because my husband and I were joking at how un--PC the songs were. I really did not realize it was loaded- now I sure do. LOL I do think the blood song is gross (read inappropriate) but as the conversation went on I thought I should clarify. ANYWAY I do enjoy debate but was not expecting to be flamed. As far as changed to what I have been very clear- changed to something more like the movie (like a country band show) have you seen the movie? And I have been clear I'd like to lose that blood song :p

I haven't been on these boards long, but I've sure learned that you don't go against the grain here. If you do there is Disney hell to pay.

I'm glad you asked the question Minnimama. I've never been and wondered if they had planned an update on it since the movie came out. I have no problem with it staying exactly as it is and the blood song probably won't bother me either. I just know that my kids LOVE the movie (I've seen and/or heard it 04985230958230452340985 times) and wondered if it would be updated to appeal to the new generation of CB fans. I by no means what it changed. I'd love to see it as is, but I feel you had a very valid question and concern. Ok, enough rambling from me.

I say everyone grab their 12 year old resort mug, go get it refilled and poolhop over to Storm along bay! (again, I've never been, so I'm just teasing here, because I've noticed those topics REALLY gets everyones bowels in an uproar)

GoofieRuthie,
Ok, Im fine with the old cups,:p and if you want to poolhop at SAB thats cool,:smooth: but could you leave room for me in the pool in July? I have a feeling its going to be as hot as this thread is when Im going to be staying there. I really dont take up much room...Maybe just a little spot under the waterfall or something? :jester:

Ok, since you asked so nicely, Dalpal! I might even move someones towel off of a chair and throw it in the towel hamper for ya! ;)
