I was waiting for someone to bring up the dreaded p**lh**ping!!!! Might as well add a complaint about the transportation from Wilderness Lodge...one poor soul REALLY got lambasted on that topic a while back. As for the guns on Tom Sawyer Island, they were there at Thanksgiving... I know because my husband and I spent so much time playing up there that our kids had to drag us away.... brought back so many happy memories of "cap" guns, only without that great gunpowder smell!!

anne60 - Say, didn't those guns (up in fort wilderness) used to fire caps? As a kid I seem to remember a "trooper" giving out caps for the rifles... Heck that was a long time ago. Back in the day when there were live (versus animatronic) indians in the indian village. I guess the fort on TSI in DL is closed for good now, with this current island rehab. <sigh>

MinniMama - Having read through this thread it sure looks like you stepped on a land mine! I guess there are a lot of people with a lot of secret resentment about the whole "PC" thing. Maybe it won't be long before everybody gets so sick of it we can just get rid of all this PC nonsense.

The "PC nonsense," although it can be carried too far, arises from the fact that in days gone by (not that far gone by) language that was blatantly insulting and offensive to minority groups was accepted in day to day conversation. Nowadays, most people know better. I don't think anyone wants to go back to those days (alright, ALMOST no one).

The backlash against offensive expression can sometimes be taken to extremes (what pirate would run after food like that?), but the idea that some things are too offensive and insensitive to be accepted in public discourse is a valid one.



BTW- I think the guns now make make an electronic "bang." My daughter and I slaughtered scores of helpless riders on Big Thunder Mountain last trip
