Counting steps devices

LOVE MY FITBIT. I have the ONE. My hubby and daughter have the ZIP. I got mine March of 2013. LOVE IT. I have a 7 month streak going!!! I have had 10k+ steps every day since Dec. 20th. On Friday I hit 21k steps. I AM JUST A LITTLE OBSESSED. Can't wait to get high numbers at Disney next month. I got great numbers last year on our two trips.

It is a great incentive to stay active. :) I walked 812 miles last year...outside, on the treadmill and using Leslie Sansone dvd's. This year I am shooting for 1000. I am almost to 600. GOOD LUCK!!!

IF you go to the Fitbit website..you can compare the various models and watch the video clips on each. :)

Do any of the counters, like the Fitbit track the distance, calories burned, length of time? I have the Nike+ and love it but they no longer make a shoe I like with the hole for the sensor. I have an external hook for it but it looks ugly. So I'm looking for something to track my run workouts without spending too much ($50-150)

Fit bit recently updated and now has the capability of tracking a walk/run thru gps. You have to start your workout thru a device(I use my iPhone). Once you start the workout if tracks distance, speed and calories and gives a map of where you were. (Similar to other smart phone apps).

You basic daily stats show steps, distance travelled, active minutes, calories burned, sleep and it can log your calories. I prefer to use myfitnesspal for calorie counting. The fitbit syncs with myfitnesspal to add my steps for the day.

What app do you use on your iphone? IS it the fitbit app that tracks your speed/distance and maps it? I use Map My Walk.

Thank you. This sounds like what I want.

dreamin_disney We've had our fit bits for several years. We started with the Fitbit Ultra - I don't know if they still sell this model or not. It was also $99.00. Our original Ultras were both replaced because the stair counter was not accurate. We were getting 50-60 flight of stairs logged daily which is not at all accurate. When they were replaced, they were replaced with the Fitbit One. While on vacation in Disney, mine went through the washer and the dryer. Fortunately it was on the next to last day of vacation. I followed the directions on the Fitbit website but was unable to revive my One. I wrote to the company and they replaced my unit for something completely of my error.

The Fitbit website is a wealth of information. There is also a community forum section on the website that you may find informative.

One important question.....Does the fitbit work if I use a treadmill? I plan on walking outside but I also have a treadmill and want to make sure it will correctly count the steps. Not sure if treadmill surface vs, solid floor makes a difference. I don't know why I think I read or heard some pedometers don't read steps on treadmills:confused3

Similar question: my cardio machine of choice is a Elliptical. Does a Fitbit register those?

I have the Fitbit Flex, and I love it. For the person that said their friend didn't get credit for pushing a stroller, I have not found that to be the case at all. My Fitbit always tracks, whether I am pushing a stroller or pushing the lawnmower.

Be been feeling horrible! My blood sugar has been high and I've gained a few pounds. I need to get back in track!!

I want to get one of those step counter devices. I went in to best buy today and I was lost, all were different than the ones I remember lol! I have an iPhone if hat helps. I want something easy to carry . I think the pocket ones aren't a good one for me cause I might wash it .

Please recommend a good one and one that won't break the bank :) I do hv best but card, SAMs, and Costco so I can charge it if I need to. Thanks

I downloaded the free "Map my Walk" app - it counts steps, calories burned, distance, etc, and even shows a map at the end of where you walked. I set it up to connect with my email, so at the end of my walk, I save the workout and it sends it to me the next day in email.

Awesome wealth of info here...I've been looking at the Fitbit One for awhile..Think this may help me make the purchase!

I have a jawbone up. It's a rubbery bracelet that can connect to my iPad. I absolutely loved it for tracking exercise and sleep. It worked great for a few months but then started not holding a charge. I've tinkered with it, but think it is time to contact the company. According to the troubleshooting boards they should replace it!

another vote for fitbit one. I also use the program 'loss it' and it connects to my fitbit account and automatically syncs my info to fitbit.
mine has gone through the wash and I thought, oops, another one bites the dust, but it came out and worked fine. maybe because it was in its holder, not sure but there were no issues with it at all. that was 6 months ago.

My sister bought me a Fitbit Zip for my birthday in June. I give up on this thing. I can't get it to turn on, the "friend" request that my sister sent me always comes up as "we are sorry but we are having technical problems" and for some reason it won't let me complete registration on my phone (Android). I've wasted enough time trying to use this thing. I'm going back to my regular pedometer.

I'm torn I like the bracket because I don't have to worry about losing it. The negative everyone can see it

The fit one I like and it's discreet but not thrilled about clipping it or putting it in my pocket.

The fit one is above the fit flex right?

I got a Fitbit Flex (the bracelet) for my Birthday in June. I love it!! It's comfy to wear. It tracks my sleep, counts calories burned, counts steps & so much more I'm still figuring out. One of my favorite features I didn't know about is the silent alarm. You set it on the computer or on your phone. It vibrates and wakes me but nobody else. No more sleeping thru alarms. It wakes me the first time it goes off.

FYI wore it on a 10 day Disney Vacation. My best day I took 20,6051 steps, walked 8.6 miles (MK & Epcot) & burned 18,080 calories :yay: I think I burned off every Mickey Bar I ever ate ;)

I'm thinking the bracelet might be the best for me less of a hassle taking it in and off. Plus the bracelet is water poor right . The alarm is also a plus I need all the help waking up. I have 4-5 times set on my phone and lately I've been hitting snooze to much or turning them off. Luckily I'm in vacation but dd was late one day for summer school because if it
