Counter Service

I know this is hard to comprehend, but we are not big eaters and have never been interested in the dining plan. We've been to quite a few character breakfasts, but even the kids are not that interested in those anymore.

Can we order a la carte at CS? If one person orders the regular lunch with carrots, that is enough carrots for all of us. I would rather order just the entree for me if that is allowed.

Counter service is like ordering at McDonalds. You buy a sandwich, or a salad, or a soup, etc. Sometimes they offer combos as well, so you might order a burger combo, a chicken combo, etc. A lot depends on which CS restaurant you are going to. I have found most of the portions in CS restaurants to be of average size, not overwhelming like some TS restaurants can be.

We do this a lot at lunch, especially in Epcot. We love Yakatori House, and often order two combo plates that all four of us share.

The wife and I aren't big eaters at one seating. We split most of the time.

We aren't big eaters either and have never had any desire for the dining plan. When we do go to a charcater meal, it's for the fun atmosphere and the characters, not so much the meal (Disney makes a lot money off of us at the buffets!). the few times we do go to a TS meal we tend to split a meal as they give you way more food than you can comfortably eat! I mean, it's July, 98 with high humidity and you have to walk all over creation. Who wants to tank up and head out into that? I'd throw up!

Believe it or not, there are those of us (we tend to stay hidden in the woodwork) who don't think the Dining Plan is that great of an idea. Oh boy, I just admitted that on this board!

Disney counter service menus are set up something like:

Cheeseburger basket with fries or fruit and a drink
Foot long hot dog basket with fries or fruit and a drink

What they don't list is just a cheeseburger or just a hot dog. The cashiers have that option on their machine. You can also order just the fries. Or just the fruit. Basically, as long as it's on the menu somewhere, you can get it individually.

Don't worry, my husband just about fainted when we wanted to split a foot long hot dog (very easy for two not so big eaters) but didn't want the fries and I stepped up and said, "just a hot dog please". Now he's getting better at thinking outside the printed menu.

Thanks. I thought I had previously read that you can order without the sides, but I had never seen that on the menus.
