I've never done a poll, so I hope this goes through okay. The discussions about the Kidani Village restaurant options has got me to wondering. Which type of restaurant does the majority of DVC members prefer at their resort (assuming DVC is only putting one in, like at Kidani) - counter service or table service?

I like having the option of both, honestly. We use the DDP while on vacation, so it's nice to have the option of a CS for breakfast, and it certainly is nice having a TS option for dinner. I don't think I could pick...

I agree, there are things we like about both :thumbsup2

I like having both also. (We also do the DDP.) However, if I had to choose, it would be counter service, b/c with a kid it's always good to be able to grab something fast if they're hungry. We stay in a 2 bedroom, so we have a kitchen - BUT - I don't want to cook on vacation.

I can do without the table service at the resort, most of the time when I'm eating out it's been planned for a specific location for a specific purpose and not where we're staying.

I do need a CS option nearby as we all get hungries just after arriving as well as on the day we depart (waiting for ME and no longer have a room). Not to dismiss all those times in between when the kids just don't care for what I have stocked.

We'll be trying Kidani in July for 4 nights, we'll have to wait and see how it turns out. I realize the pool bar may have some sort of food options but from what I've seen pool bars are closed more often than not -- if it's starting to drizzle and within 3 hours of closing they're gone for the day. :(

I voted for Counter Service. Though I really do like places like Chef Mickey's & Whispering Canyon, I am not going to eat there every day.

I would have liked both at Kidani. With a resort that size I feel it could have offered both and been successful. When you compare AKV-Kidani's 324 rooms with BWV's 383, having one TS restaurant seems out of wack especially given it's remote location. BWV does have the BWI rooms and draws from S/D and the parks but look at all the dining options versus one TS restaurant. DVC could have done much better. It would have been so much better to have the space planned into the design for a small counter service then to have to squeeze it in later (as in the BCV Marketplace).

However if I had to pick one it would be a CS.

well there is the Publix in easy walking distance - if Disney does not put up a fence.

Love having counter service because we eat larger meals at TS in parks. I like coming back in the afternoon and grabbing a slice or basket of chicken fingers and lounging in the room or at the pool. I also look forward to a Mickey waffle to start my mornings.
But with buying into DVC, it seems I will have to adjust my eating habits.

I voted 'counter service' although, like others, I'd prefer both. But...if I must choose it would be CS. It's just for practicality sake.

I voted counter service because we utilize this way more. And it's not even just a money issue.

It's sheer convenience with CS meals. No need to make ADR's....usually no waiting for a table....no waiting for server....no waiting for a bill. I'm with someone else. I'd prefer both, but if I could only have one, it would be CS. If we had CS at our DVC, we'd utilize it almost daily. TS is reserved for 1 or maybe 2 meals during a week stay.

I think this poll is flawed. I voted Table service, but in reality, I prefer having both like we do at OKW.

I like both. I wonder if they will provide pre-made sandwiches and salad at the Kidani resort store, similar to the pre-made items in the Pop Century food court refrigerators. If so, that may be a good alternative to an actual counter service location.

I voted CS but would prefer both too for all the same reasons as everone else. We have all out TS dinners planned out but love a CS options for the arrival day, hanging out by the pool, etc.

At a DVC resort I would definitely have to go with Table Service. We only dine out about 1x per day and eat the rest of our meals in the room. So if really forced to decide, I'd rather have someone wait on us at mealtime.

I can make pizza, hot dogs and sandwiches in the room for about the same time & effort as going to a Disney CS dining location.

They already have Jiko and Boma at Jambo House. I'd vote for a counter service like Artist's Palette - a little more upscale with "premade food" available for purchase as well as "prepared while you wait" food.

Both please! We like CS for breakfast and TS for dinner. I didn't vote in the poll because I would be unhappy to have only a CS option.

I use counter service more at our DVC resorts. I'm hoping that the resort store has a variety of things to eat. Perhaps it will have something like the Beachclub. That will be good enough for me. If not, I'll probably book all of my studio stays in Jambo for sure. That wouldn't be a problem for me, I really like staying at Jambo. Since Kidani studios only have a single sink and the kitchenette area is smaller, I suppose I already had decided that would be the case.

The only resort that I'm not happy with counter service options is Vero, but there it's just a short walk to a good pizza/hoagie place. Vero is a small resort and I understand that there's not much call for more than what's available by the pool.

I'd prefer both but I voted for CS. We don't usually eat at the CS places but I like the idea of having something close to my home resort where I can pick up a snack and take it back to the room.

Not voting on this one...prefer to have both on site as options...although we mainly do CS meals...still want the choice... Jambo House is great because you have the Mara, Boma and Jiko...all 3 are great options!
