We're another Cosmic Rays fan. That's the only counter service that really sticks out at MK. We use alot of Table service at MK like The Plaza, Crystal Palace & Tony's Restaurant. The CS El pirata--in Adventureland sounds good--might try this year

If you need ideas at Epcot--- We love The Land's Sunshine Seasons! Electric Umbrella was okay. In the UK, the fish & chips are good.
Going to try CS in China this year--it was closed last year.

My husband and I weren't thrilled with Cosmic Ray's . It was just too difficult to stand in two to three different lines with small ones. And it was sooo crowded. One that hasn't been mentioned was Casey's Hot Dog place on Main Street. That was really good. Obviously everyone has to love a hot dog! Harbour House was good and so was Peco Bills..

Yes, Cosmic Rays can be crazy & crowded. We try not to go in the middle of peak time. One thing I like about it is all the options. We just send one kid per adult.

(we don't eat pork/beef or other red meat so no hotdogs for us!!)

Cosmic Rays at MK has more of a selection than most of the other CS places.

My favorite! HUGE meal for CS!! I dreamed about the chicken, potatoes, and carrots for months after we got back.

We also often return to Studios "Backlot Express". For us, AK is a struggle to find a place we really enjoy/look forward to. We do "Pizzafari" though the kids meals don't offer Pizza!!

We are me (40), DH (43), DS (10) and DS (5). All are picky eaters except for me. Our favorites are :
AK : Flame Tree BBQ - they offered chicken wings or drumsticks on the kids menu that the boys love !
DHS : Have always eaten at Sci Fi so have never done CS here other than fruit at Anaheim Produce
MK : We just discovered Cosmic Rays on our last visit and loved it ! Something for everyone although there are three separate checkouts which makes it a challenge if everyone want something different.
Epcot : Yorkshire County Fish Shop - yummy ! And Kringla Bakeri in Norway for school bread !

Epcot: Yakitori House in the Japan pavilion at Epcot had huge portions and yummy Chicken Teriyaki and Mongolian beef, both with rice. The kids loved it. We also loved Tangierine Cafe in Morocco, and ate there twice.

DS does not have the best choices, but we ended up at ABC commissary because they were a little different: the curried chicken was good, hot, and huge...plenty big enough to split.

AK: Flame Tree all the way! Mmmm, pulled pork sandwiches... Also, I think that is the place that had the Mango pie for dessert, which I never saw anywhere else. It was great!

MK: We loved the portions at Pecos Bill, but haven't tried a lot of the other places in Mk yet since that park wears us out so much we usually end up going back to our resort for lunch when we are in MK for the day.

If you will be doing any resort-hopping, I would try counter service meals at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Polynesian Resort. Both have large and varied options compared to the other resorts we visited, at least the deluxe ones.

I guess it depends on what you like to eat: we are what some would call adventurous, but for us eating Indian food, for example, is a monthly, or sometimes weekly occurrence, so I avoid the typical burger place like the plague, lol...so take my advice with that grain of salt.

I second this- my husband nearly cried with happiness to find somewhere selling something other than hotdogs and fries It was such a relief to find it he actually called my sister on her cell to tell her to come find us Mongolian beef was really popular with all four of mine.

Cosmic rays was the first (and only!) restaurant to raise a smile with my four year old (who was having a really mardy time as she didn't cope with the august heat) She actually preferred it to dinner at CRT, Tusker house and Chef Mickeys!!!! (I could have saved a fortune!) She loved Sonny Eclipse. It was busy but we sent my dad, DH and the four kids to find seats whilst my mother took one queue, I took the other. They do a great salad bowl (warm mushrooms and bacon in mine!)

My kids loved the pinwheel wraps at pinnochios (and it was a very nostalgic memory for me and my dad as we sat there when i was six- never thought then i'd be back before 30 with four kids to see my sister marry at WDW... although she did tell me on that vacation when she grew up she was going to be a princess !)


Noodle station was a refreshing change too.

These are great suggestions, thank you for the post! We're also trying to figure out CS restaurants. Someone mentioned trying not to go at peak times so it's less busy... does anyone know what those peak times might be? (I'm not sure if they'd change at all from "normal" since people are on vacation and might dine at different times)

I vote for Cosmic Rays - especially with the twins under 2. There is a good selection and good portions. you can get a chicken an rib platter that would be great for sharing with the kids. They can have the chicken and you the ribs.

The Pinochio place is also good. Plus if you need to or want to I think you can use a snack credit for the Figaro fires

we LOVE pecos bill's in frontierland at MK - the bbq sub is yummy! flame tree bbq in AK is really good, as is toy story pizza planet and backlot express at DHS.

The LAND'S counter service is also good, also if you are into Asian, The new yak and Yeti counter service is suppose to be pretty good.

I've found that 2-4 in the afternoons is pretty good, crowd wise. Also, 10:30 to about 11:00 for lunch...after 11, you start to get all of the people who got to the parks early, and decide to eat just because they are hot and want some A/C! As for favorite counter service...

MK- Columbia Harbor House (by the Haunted Mansion) has some great non-fast-food choices. There's a great sandwich with hummus...yum! I worked some extra hours there during my college program, and the Clam Chowder (I think?) was very popular. Also, there is a big area upstairs that is usually really empty! There are windows you can look out of, and I think you may even be able to see the parade from one! It's a great spot to get away.

Casey's (on Main Street, at the end on the left)- I LOVE the corn dog nuggets. Don't know exactly...but they're great! This is a good spot for a quick meal...especially if you want to bring food out to watch a parade, or if the weather is not too hot and you would like to grab a table outside to at least listen to the castle show.

I like the BBQ sandwich and pasta salad at Cosmic Ray's too! However, if you are going during a busy time (like noon or 6 pm), I find this crowded!


EPCOT- I would totally agree with others, eat your way around the world! For something kids would like, I recommend the French bakery! But seriously, they have some great pastries (some with ham and cheese, I think!) and some with fruit. Not too bad! I also like the quick service Chinese place...found it very empty, fresh, and big portions! There are some neat things in Norway, too!

I think they quit making these. We loved them as well.
