Hi!

We are going to IOA for the first time in October and would like some suggestions for lunch. Is there any restaurant you really enjoy or any one you wouldn't go back to?

Thanks in advance!! Please help me as I have never been there!

Karen

P.S. There will be 4 adults and 3 kids, ages 6, 4 and 2! :Pinkbounc

The only counter service restaurant we have tried is The Enchanted Oak Tavern in The Lost Continent. We had a huge meal of chicken, fries, corn muffin and sweetcorn. The bartender at the Alchemy Bar (which is on your right as you enter the restaurant) told us that all (counter) food at US and IoA is prepared on the premises, whereas at WDW (apparently) the food is prepared centrally and shipped out to the counter eateries. It certainly tasted very fresh.

The restaurant itself is quite dark and cavernous, but there is a verandah at the back which overlooks the lagoon.

I know it's not counter but Mythos is where we like to do lunch. It's very fast and the service is excellent. There are a lot of things on the menu you can choose from for a light lunch. There are some great salads and you could have an appitizer for lunch.

We also went to Mythos for a lunch this time and loved it. It really wasn't that much more expensive than some counter service.
If you like Gyros, the Fire Eaters Grille (counter service) in Islands of Adventure (Lost Continent) has great gyros.

I don't know how true that is. In several of the counter service places you can see them cooking the food in the back.

My favorite counter service restaurant is Dagwood's because I love sandwiches. So if you like sandwiches and stuff like that go there. If you're willing to sit down at Mythos, that is definately the best choice.

I'll second the vote for the Enchanted Oak Tavern. The ribs and
chicken are quite good. I also had a very good cup of potato
corn chowder. If you go there, be sure to look up. The "sky" is
lovely and the animal carvings into the tree are fun to hunt for.

Also, don't rule out the Thunder Falls Terrace next to the Jurrasic Park splashdown area. The food is good there, too and as far
as I could tell it's the only counter service restaurant where my
picky kids could get a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!

Now, all that being said--forget counter service and head for
Mythos. Sit down, cool off, be served and enjoy some of the best
food around!

Thanks for your replies! We will be there two days of a three day pass. I think we will do Mythos once, then one of the counter service the other day.

Thanks!

Karen

I am crushed about Dueling Dragons!! Closed when we will be there. :( :(
