Hi DISBoarders! Heading back to Beach Club Villas again later this month and want to plan our counter service meals (DDP - already have all our ADR made for TS). For our days at MK, which is better: Columbia Harbour or Pecos Bill's?
I think they are both good, depends on what you are in the mood for. CHH has good fried fish and a really great tuna sandwich. PB has decent burgers and an awesome fixins bar!
I have never done PB, but we just did CHH this past August and really enjoyed it. The food was good and I really loved the seating, it wasn't hustle bustle noisy and crazy in there it was very calming, relaxing, lots of seating available, very cool.
We like both very much. We always end up going to the closest one when we decide we are hungry.
This year though, I think it will be CHH. I want to try the new lobster roll.
Enjoy
Columbia Harbor House is our favorite CS in MK by far. Great food (I love the tuna sandwich, DH loves the fish and shrimp combo and chowder). Plus, we love going upstairs where it always seems to be quiet and calm. It's a nice break in the middle of a crazy day.
Both are good at what they do: Pecos Bill for burgers/fixings; CHH for variety.
Just to make it even harder for you, my favorite CS on an MK day involves the monorail. I head to Contempo Cafe in CR or Capt Cooks in the Poly (have not tried the CS at GF but I see the new menu there is getting good marks from others too). I think both have better food and more choices than CHH. Also, both are usually much less crowded than any of the CS in the parks at noontime. It makes a nice mini-park-break when I don't want to traipse all the way back to my own resort.
I really think it depends on what you are in the mood for. We have had both, but we prefer CHH. Their "Anchors Aweigh" (tuna salad) sandwich is awesome!
I've tried both as well and CHH is the clear winner. I generally don't like MK CS burgers (overcooked on hard wheat buns), but even if I did, CHH has more menu choices and much nicer atmosphere than PB. We were there last Monday and sat upstairs in the quiet. I loved the Anchors Aweigh tuna sandwich (fresh wheat bread) and DBF loved the chicken peppercorn salad.
Columbia Harbour House is the one we do every trip. We love the fish there, and the crowd levels are always very low. We love the upstairs seating and the whole atmosphere of the place. It's MK's best counter service, defintely!
