Hi, I'm on a budget and I just wanted some info on some of the counter service restaurants that I haven't eaten at. Yakatori House in Epcot- how is that and what is the price range? ABC Commissary in MGM- same question as before... And any other pointers. We're probably going to do one nice meal and one moderate meal and the rest is going to have to be the cheaper stuff. Thanks in advance for any advice you might have...

We tried the Yakatori house and did not like it but loved the counter service at China. The ABC commissay is average and the prices are comparable to the other counter service restaurants. You can go to wdwig and pull the menus and prices for all these places in WDW. VERY helpful site !!! Have a great weekend!!! It is sunny and nice here in Florida !!!!

I also suggest checking out all the menus. ONe of our favorite "cheapies", not that anything is cheap in Disney, is Columbia Harbour House in MK.

We like Pecos Bills in MK, if your kids are McDonalds fans you can get nugget happy meals at Restarauntesaurus in the AK, we also liked the counter service in China at Epcot and loved the Electric Umbrella in Future World, we had Pizza Planet at MGM and it was okay, more the atmosphere for our 6 yo ds than the food. Also had food from the market area at MGM several stands there with pizza, hamburgers, turkey legs, foot long hot dogs, etc. we had hamburgers and chicken tenders from here and it was okay.

we avoid ABC Commissary...we had a terrible meal there a few years ago, but that could have just been a bad day.

in epcot, the morocco counter service is good.
in AK, we like flame tree bbq and tusker house
in MK, we love pecos bill

enjoy!

We love Pecos Bills and Columbia Harbour House at MK. We frequently get one combo meal and one plain sandwich. There's usually plenty of fries to split for the 2 of us. We only get one drink too. We get the free ice and refill our water bottles and I drink that. Over at MGM, we like the Backlot Express. (But I'm a plain and picky eater) We tried the restaurants that were at the entrance to Fantasmic last year, and they were the worst meal of our trip.

I would check out the menu's and prices at Deb's. We use those a lot in deciding where we want to eat.

I like the Yakitori house, usually it is a good deal - if you are into Japanese food. The chicken skewers and edamame are great. I like Starlight Ray's in the MK. there is also a cart in AK that has Chicken stuff - I don't recall exactly where it is, but there is a McD's french fry place next to it. They have a great dumpling soup. If you like hot dogs try Casey's in the MK. The food court in MGM was alright.

Another voice against the Commissary at MGM. It is consisitently lousy. Some of our favorites:

AKL - Pizzafari or Tusker House
Epcot - Mexican Cantina outside. Fish & Chips outside at Great Britain.
MK - Ray's or Pecos Bill's are fine. Columbia House is always disappointing to me.
MGM - Usually just grab something in the food court area, or at Pizza Planet if my son pushes the issue.

Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club has yummy burgers and shakes. It's a pleasant walk from World Showcase in EPCOT.

Ditto on the ABC Commissary--been there a few times and its been consistantly bad!!

we normally get room service for breakfast & go all out for dinner with our appetites delight, but some of our fav cheap eats & snacks at wdw are..

magic kingdom - ditto on pecos bills we share a hot dog or burger for a snack & they have a big fixins bar, main street bake shop for dessert goodies.

epcot - ditto for the lotus blossom cafe at china, we get the orange chix (similiar to sweetnsour chicken) and ditto for the tangerine cafe at morocco we share the couscous & baklava for a snack. we also like cantina san angel in mexico on the lagoon tacos & margaritas.

mgm studios - toy story pizza planet we share a pizza for a snack, min & bills dockside diner we get a chocolate malt.

animal kingdom - chakrandi chicken shop in asia the chicken in peanut sauce & noodle bowls. or flame tree barbecue.

downtown disney - wolfgang puck express good soups & sandwiches, ghiradelli soda fountain & chocolate shop, umm, we share a sundae here every trip & always buy some of their delicious chocolate for home.

alot of the wdw resorts also have great inexpensive places to eat, like the boardwalk vendors like crepes on a stick or the takeout window at spoodles. or fort wilderness' trails end restaurant which has a variety of food offerings for a good price, including an all you can eat breakfast buffet.

Pizzafari in AK has a large sandwich that 2 adults can split. They also have a large grilled chicken salad that 2 could split, too.

Cosmic Ray's has some kind of family dinner deal with a whole or half rotisserie chicken, side, etc.. Check for specifics on wdwig.com

ABC Commisary is yechy!!! Don't eat there....

However, if you are headed to Fantasmic and want some hot chocolate, buy it first at ABC Commisary, where it is only $1.69 or so....if you try to buy it at Fantasmic, the cheapest version is $4.00! :earseek:

We like Yakitori & dislike the China Pavillion counter-service. We also like Cantina San Angel & Tangerine Cafe in Epcot.
Don't even bother with counter service in MGM - it's all pretty bad.
At MK, we like Columbia Harbour House & Cosmic Rays
AK has both Tusker House & Flame Tree, which are very good.
DTD has Earl of Sandwich & Bongo's used to have a take-out window that we liked. I haven't been there in 5 years, so I don't know if it's still there.

I forgot, for a late breafast or snack, there is an awesome pastry place at MGM. It might be called Starring Rolls. They have bagels, chocolate creations to die for (never tried, they just looked amazing), muffins and such, and specialty coffee. I think they aren't open very early, and it's kind of tucked in a corner, but very worthwhile. :earsgirl:

Tangerine Cafe (Morroco) has got some of the best food on property. The Fish and Chips are also excellent.

I don't normally eat hot dogs but Casey's hot dogs and fries are unusually tasty.

Tusker House in AK is also good as is Flame Tree Barbeque.

Count me in as another voice against ABC commisary. I got breakfast there one morning and it was just plain greasy.
