We have stayed at CSR for the past three years, and as we use the dining plan, we really enjoyed the Pepper Market for counter service meals as well as the small cafe next to the Market where we could get muffins, fruit, and other quick things for breakfast. This is our first year staying at Kidani (so excited! :cool1:), but I'm not quite sure how things work there. Is there any counter service option at Kidani? Or do you have to go to the main building for a counter service meal?

Kidani Village does not have a quick service restaurant, or anything like the small cafe that is at Coronado Springs. The Mara, a quick service restaurant, is located at Jambo House near the main pool. Its a short walk from Kidani to Jambo, or you can take any of the Disney Park buses (Park buses stop at Kidani first, then Jambo, before they continue to DHS, Epcot, DAK, or MK), or you can take the free AKL shuttle van that runs between Kidani and Jambo.

There are some food items available at the Kidani pool, too. You can get "Grab & Go" salads and some sandwiches, which count as a QS meal credit. The pool also offer a private dining menu, which offers burgers, shrimp, grilled lamb, etc. However, the private dining is expensive and has a delivery fee (think room service prices).

We stayed at Kidani a few weeks ago for 1 night. And although we LOVED the room and how pretty the resort was..the lack of counter service there was a big thing for us.

We walked to get dinner and it was so hot and took about 15 minutes..which isn't that bad, but with 3 kids and it being a not so scenic walk and 95 degrees it wasn't fun. Not knowing we asked at the Jambo house if there was an easier way back and they told us to take the downtown disney bus back...What a relief that was! I just wish they had something at Kidani for food. I must say though the counter service at Jambo house was GREAT!

CSR was our first on-site resort and oh my, Pepper Market is amazing. The moderate resorts have the deluxe resorts beat when it comes to the CS food courts - there is not a single deluxe with anything that comes close to the options all three moderate resorts offer.

That said - Mara at Jambo House is one of the better CS options at a deluxe (and one of the only ones with Mickey waffles!). Of the DVC resorts, SSR, AKL, BLT, and VWL have decent CS, and of those Mara has the most variety. Check out the desserts in the cooler - they have zebra domes!

Sorry, but I can not agree that it is a short walk fron Kidani to Jambo House.
