Counter Service at DHS?

I find CS options here to be not so great...

We usually grab a snack at Backlot Express and I've heard a lot of folks like Starring Rolls (never tried it myself) but otherwise we stick to TS options at DHS.

If you're willing I'd do Sci Fi Dine in lunch OOP. It's worth it and a great value OOP.

My only suggestion is to do everything you can to eat something/somewhere else.

If you plan on hopping somewhere else, eat when you get to where you are going or walk to the Boardwalk and get a pizza from the Pizza Window.

I have to agree with the previous posters. CS offerings at DHS are pretty weak.

Ugh!! We already have H&V for breakfast (small kids) and MaMa Melrose for dinner. Maybe we'll just grab snacks in the meantime. Thanks for the input!!

Backlot Express is not awful and I've had things I like at Studio Catering (that one is outdoors though). I won't do Starring Rolls for sandwiches because they can't alter what is on the sandwich.

Starring Rolls has pretty decent sandwiches, but there are a limited number available so if you miss them, you miss them. :(

I agree with other posters that the CS options at HS are pretty weak but if you just need something small and quick, then places like Fairfax Faire, Rosie's All-American Cafe, etc. along Sunset Blvd. might do the trick.

personally, I like Backlot Express, but then I do have a weakness for burgers with onion straws. However, if you already have two table service meals that day, you probably wouldn't need a meal for lunch, just a snack or two.

We've done Pizza Planet twice, without complaint. It's not the best pizza out there, but it works when you're hungry.

Catalina Eddie's has a great hot Italian Sandwich, Fairfax Fare has the same basic chicken as Cosmic Ray's, If you are going to Fantasmic, the macaroni in the bread cone is like at Carsland in DL.

I like the panini sandwich that's served at Backlot Express. I get that and a beer and we try to sit outside and watch the Jedi Training show.

I'm a crazy person and I love Pizza Planet? But I love Disney pizza and Caesar salad lol

Macaroni and cheese hot dog at Fairfax Fare, chased by a cupcake from Starring Rolls, a carrot cake cookie from Writer's Stop and a PB&J milkshake from the Tune-In Lounge. That's a well-balanced meal if ever there was one.

I can feel my pants getting tighter just thinking about that. :lmao:

We too find CS options lacking at DHS. We opt for a cupcake at Starring Rolls and then head to Epcot for CS which has so many better options!

We had Starring Rolls last time and I would eat it again. Nothing fancy, but it was fine. I personally don't want to leave the park for a QS meal, but if I didn't have small kids to contend with I might.

We like to get the pretzel dogs at Minn & Bills. They also have shakes & malts, which they'll let count as your dessert if you're on the dining plan. Not the healthiest option out there, but plenty filling.

Yeah, I'm in total concurrence with the majority in this thread. Counter Service Options are nothing to write home about. Admittedly, I haven't tried any of Hollywood Studio's quick-service offerings, except ABC Commissary, but that was many years ago, and I heard it's only gotten worse. I haven't had the nerve to try it. I am, however, very intrigued by the hotdogs at Minn & Bill's. I want to try an Italian sausage one.

However, Starring Rolls--- *hops on the bandwagon* They have great breakfast pastries! I like to grab me a cinnamon roll and a chocolate milk early in the morning.

If you want to take a look at Table Service, now, THERE'S some places I have recommendations for! ;D

I've have given the ABC commisary three tries and every time I swore I would never eat there again....absolutely terrible! It has been a couple years since the last time, but I won't chance it again. Pizza Planet or Rosie's would be my choice.
