Let me first say that I'm still ticked off that the Tusker House is closing. Okay, got that out of my system.

Are any of the other counter service restaurants at Animal Kingdom worth going out of our way for? We usually only end up staying in AK for half a day, so we usually would grab lunch while we were there. We're going in 2 months, and I officially have my planning hat on, so I just wondering if it's worth sticking around for lunch. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I like Pizzafari, they have a really good chicken sandwich, and my kids love the pizza. Flame Tree is good, if you like BBQ. I would do Pizzafari but that is just MHO. Good Luck

We've eaten at FT and TH, but not Pizzafari. Maybe next time.

I'm a big BBQ fan, so I liked FT. Here's the menu:

As for RFC, I'd highly recommend joining the Safari Club beforehand. You get some discounts, but the priority seating feature is a must there, otherwise be prepared to wait. My kids are SC members, and we like the RFC (prolly eating at the DtD one in Oct), but you will spend twice as much than at a CS. Easily.

ETA: If you go to FT, be sure to eat at a covered spot. A nice bird came within inches of "garnishing" my food. By the looks of it, I think it may have been a pteradactyl.

flame tree bbq- pulled pork sandwich with a corn muffin...some onion rings on the side...mmmmmmmmm! i can taste it now!

We love Flame Tree BBQ. We've eaten there on our last three trips (Oct 05, Aug 06, May 07) and will be eating there again when we return in December. The pulled pork sandwich is delicious and the kid's chicken with grapes is a good, healthy kid's meal. It was enough food to satisfy an adult.

We also ate at Pizzafari when we were there in May. It was okay, but the pizza was a frozen, personal-size pizza style (tasted like the one we ate at the pool at OKW). Not bad, but nothing extraordinary. We were also told by a CM that they were not going to allow children on DDP to pick a pizza for the credit (in the past they were allowing this). There was no pizza on the children's menu (I think the choices were PBJ and fried chicken fingers). Going to a pizza place and not being able to choose a pizza as your kid's meal won't fly when you have a child who wants what you're having. My DD3 ended up eating half of my pizza and only a couple of bites of her PBJ.

Flame Tree is by far my single favorite place to eat in ALL WDW. I know some may disagree... (were all different) but Id even take it over CA grill. We ate there on our first DDP, and weve eaten there ever since. Some trips we bring all our own food into the parks. Even on THOSE trips weve eaten at FT.
The St Louis ribs... they are amazing. Id kill to be able to fix ribs that good!!!
The neat thing about them is you can eat EVERYTHING!!! Im one of those people picking every spec of fat off my food. The ribs at Flame Tree... its all good, and you cant find any fat.
Is it official about Tusker House? First Ive heard on that one!
