Countdown "gift" ideas needed

I wanted a fun way to countdown with the girls for our trip but it's WAY too far out for many of the cute ideas I saw, even the "100 days until" is not for a few months.

So last month on the 10 months until departure date, I got them each old style tin banks, tinkerbell and friends, and wrote their names on the caps so they could start their savings. We recently instituted chores around here and they now get an allowence so that worked out perfect.

We're coming up on 9 months until departure and I need some ideas.

My in-laws came up for the summer from FL and brought them WDW backpacks with lanyards and starter pin sets so there goes at least two of my ideas. LOL.

I also want to get them autograph books and pens but I'm thinking that might be more of a one month until gift.

I'm not looking to spend any serious cash, in fact I got the banks for like $3.00 each. So... got any good ideas? Disney related of course and ideally something for the trip or related to the trip would be good.

Depending on their age, i would recommend getting them a Birnbaum's kids guide to WDW (around $12-&14) let them share and use different colored pens or highlighters to plan their top attractions. I had this book when I was little and I loved it! Still have it as a matter of fact. But, this will be one of those things they can keep forever!

My oldest will be 8 and a half when we go and the little one will be turning 5 when we're there. My older one loves to read and actually might be quite into researching in a book like that. I'll keep it in mind. Thanks!

You could get them each a matching Tee shirt to wear on the trip....I know Walmart and KMart carry Disney related clothing....

1. A penlight. Great for rides that might be a liitle too dark for litlle ones. Also they can use them to play with on lines while they wait.
2. A disposable camera, just make sure that you put it in a ziplock bag when you go on wet rides.
3. A nice "fat" pen for the characters to sign their autograph books with.

You could get them pins. DD7 loves to trade them so we are soon on 1 month away which I'll be doing a pin a day.

Hey everyone! Thanks for continuously posting some ideas! My in-laws got them a pin starter set and I'm planning on a autograph book and pen set when we get closer to departure. Last month I ended up getting several bottles of nail polish so I can create some Disney nails. My older daughter especially loves this!
