We began a family tradition a number of years ago when we were first bringing our then 3 1/2 year old son to WDW. We created a Countdown Calendar to help him to better understand how long it would be before leaving, and more importantly to start to get him excited about the trip. Each morning before Day Care, assuming he got ready in time, we let him tear off the next page.
We have kept this tradition for the past 4 years and as we are now leaving in 37 days, my DW has prepared the 2002 edition. Also each year, I have prepared a poster board background to hold the calendar. I free hand draw and paint Disney Characters around the outside of a piece of poster board, leaving room in the middle for the Calendar. This project has become an annual family project, which we all dearly love.
For those interested follow this url to see the 2002 Calendar:

Note: this page has lots of graphics and may take a few moments to load.
As soon as I finish the poster, we will also post a picture of the finished 2002 version.
