Couldn't get to the area for our Holiday Wishes fast pass

we had a fp for holiday wishes on 12/20, the time listed arrive as 7:40-7:55, we walked down from fantasyland Chesire cafe at 7:20 and no way no how could we get near the wishes fp area. The area was mobbed with people for Elsa to light the castle and then celebrate the magic castle show. There didn't appear to be any walkways open. I was in a scooter so didn't attempt to squeeze through the crowds. Just wanted to give anyone else with a fp a heads up to arrive MUCH earlier than 20 minutes before the start of the fp!

We probably won't get another chance but who knows maybe we will!

That just doesn't sound safe to me...

It isn't. I am honestly surprised we've never heard of a stampede outta there. It is a very dangerous situation and that is why I always stay on the edge of the crowd. We have a quick, safe out if need be.

I was there Dec. 20th as well with fp's for Wishes. The times they put on your fp really make no sense. You're right OP. It is nearly impossible to navigate your way through the crowds during that time to get to your Wishes fp.

Too late for the OP, on the 20th (obviously...)

But, for those looking in: many guests arrive at the Wishes FP area(s) much earlier than the stated "window" time.
Some actually arrive as much as 2 hours before the Wishes start-time(!)

I'm thinking that "normally" that would be far too early.
But, the huge mobs during Christmas Week and July 3 and 4th, and Easter/Spring Break might make a very early arrival a good plan.
Not necessarily 2 hours early, but maybe an hour, or so before Wishes.

EDIT: I just found the below quote on another Wishes FP thread-
We had a Wishes FP for November 30. We chose the east side and it was a great view. Wishes was at 10. Our fp time said 9:35 to 9:55. We were able to fit in before 9 and watched the electrical parade from the spot as well. It wasn't fantastic for the parade because there are lots of people in front of you but our kids were happy watching from the Wishes area

We were there last night and made it in during the fastpass window. We approached from Tomorrowland and when we got close, a CM escorted us.

I find that so odd. The CM are very militant at keeping a walking path open all throughout the park. Granted, I've never come in that direction from Fantasy Land to the Wishes FP area but I have come from Tomorrow Land and they have put tape on the ground and have CM forcing, just short of rudely, people to move on within the taped path areas.
They also do this all down Main St

But I do agree, you should arrive much earlier than 20 min before the start of Wishes. They shouldn't put any time on them quite honestly. We always go in about 30-45 min and use the time to sit, relax and chat, wind down, etc. I don't sit on the ground much at Disney but I do like sitting on the turf in the FP area.

This is nothing new, I started a thread about this months ago. They really need to rethink crowd flow at MK.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and wanted to catch a glimpse of MSEP and then leave. I was standing in front of the planter just past the underpass into the park in front of Tony's. There was tape for the walkway and I was able to get behind it. Right when the parade started, the cm said OK, you can fill in. So people rushed to get to the curb. I didn't move but was now about 4 people deep. Then people put kids on their shoulders and I could not see at all. I just left. I'm surprised that they would fill in that walkway that leads out of the park.

We had FP last night and walked right up on the Tink side at 7:30. It does seem better to enter from the Tomorrow Land side.

We had this exact problem in early November but no scooter and still could not get through the crowds to the area. We were coming from Liberty Square
