Couldn't get my FOP FP+, now what?

Keep checking. We scheduled 8 days out in April, and snagged a same day FoP fastpass. It can be done! Check a few times a day until your trip. Had we not gotten one, we would have gotten in line just before park closing, when wait times are often inflated.

This .. Going at Rope Drop is still "waiting" for at least 60-90 minutes, as well as sacrificing sleep, waiting in a crowd (instead of a queue) for a lot of the time, etc. etc.
Granted it isn't cutting into park time, but there isn't much to do at AK anyway.

The best strategy is go where the people aren't .. without having tried it myself, I would think the late at night ride would be the best. The park will simply be less crowded at night (and people watching the night shows or just heading out for the day).

What stinks is the disappointment that people get when being online at the crack of 7 am at their 60 days and STILL not able to get a FP (because of the "length of stay" bonus). WHEN I choose to go to AK during my trip (first day or 10th day) shouldn't matter.

I have my 60 days coming up soon and I am trying to go to AK on my 3rd day of my trip. As much as I would love to schedule it for day 4 or 5 or 6, I just can't based on other plans and reservations. I have my doubts of the availability of FOP, but hopeful.
So is the theory for AK to be as late as possible in your week? I’m trying to plan out my 7 days now (staying at WL). Thank you!

Not for me. Entered the park a couple of minutes before 9am, no crowds -- just queued up -- it was a total of 78min from getting in line to riding. Took Uber there, so certainly didn't get up crazy early. But that did eat into park time... which was fine by me that day.

There's more than one way to do rope drop. :)

We went to AK last year for EMH.
We had an Uber drop us off at the park just after 7am, they opened the gates at 7:20 & walked us to Pandora, where they split the crowd into those going to Navi RJ & those going to FOP.
We managed to do to FOP & NRJ by 8:45 & were walking out of Pandora when the masses were walking in at 9am.
We also managed to snag a couple of fast passes for FOP & NRJ as well later in our trip.
My planned day is an EMH morning, but I hopefully plan on skipping FOP that morning. Getting there at 7:00 AM and getting on the ride sometime after 8 is till waiting an hour plus. But getting both rides done by 8:45 seems pretty decent.

Despite being up and on the website when it became available this morning, there was nothing available AT ALL for FOP for my AK day. I selected Na'vi instead. What should my strategy be to make FOP happen? I have a 10:50am Tusker House ADR. The park opens at 9. When do I need to be in line for FOP and how long do you think I'll wait?
Depending on the size of your party, you MAY have luck searching for day of FP for it. My son and I were able to snag day of FOP FP in August, and we managed to get two pairs of NRJ FP with overlapping times, plus a third pair for my wife and daughter to ride.

Yep, that's what I plan to do next Saturday! I'd rather wait before the park opens, then spend precious park time waiting, especially for a quick weekend trip like we're taking. Flying in Friday eve, then a one day park hopper for Saturday, going to AK for EMH to ride FOP & Navi, then hop to Epcot for F&W. A Sunday MNSSHP ticket, then home on Monday. Every second counts lol!

That’s still a pretty long wait. We find Rope Drop to be way too crowded and stressful. We waited until later in the evening and the wait was only about 1/3rd of what you experienced.

But it isn't crowded and stressful if you stroll in after the mass of humanity has herded its way toward FoP -- like I did. I just strolled up and got in line. 78min for that ride is not that long, and we had our FPs for late morning / early afternoon, so it worked out well. Then we were park hopping afterwards. Late evening is a craps shoot in my experience. Sometimes works out well, sometimes the wait is surprisingly long. And not everyone wants to stay until closing.

My point is just that there are multiple options -- where you don't wait 3hrs -- that DO NOT involve getting to AK at 6 or 7 am.

I was able to get a FP+ for FOP and every single ride in AK except Primeval Whirl by simply spending almost every second of the day refreshing and modifying. It worked out perfectly.

Not sure if you’re serious, but I’ll just assume you are...

I’m not forking over thousands of dollars and a week of my life to spend my entire vacation with my face buried in my phone. I can do that for free at home.

I was only on my phone while passing time in queues or while taking breaks, I was still able to enjoy the park and take everything in all while getting FP+ for most attractions. Rode Expedition Everest 4-5 times!

I'm not sure if the PP is serious, either, but I choose to believe he/she might be joking a bit. Either way, people get to spend their vacations how they like - not ever looking at their phones or on them constantly to get more FP+. Whatever makes someone's vacation a good one for them is what they should do, without judgement from anyone who does it differently.

As i just stated, I was only on my phone while passing time in queues or while taking breaks. If not OP can just try rope drop or spend 2+hrs out of their day in a queue.

Ok well that’s a little different than spending every second of the day hitting refresh, which is what you originally said.

I don't judge anyone for anything. That seems to be your gig.
