couldn't get Mama Melrose's - is it worth trying again later?

I want to do the Fantasmic dining package the day we will be in MGM, but I couldn't get a good time at Mama Melrose's (the best they had was 4:30 but I can't eat dinner that early - I'd need to eat again by 9:00!). So I made a reservation at H&V but I'm not that enthused about yet another buffet. DS4 loves Italian food so I know he would be happy at MM.

Is it worth trying again closer to the trip? Do ADRs ever open up? Or should I just be happy I have an ADR somewhere and move on with my life?

Oh, and we are going early May if that makes a difference.

I have found that MGM is one of the park where they do seem to hold back reservations, of course with wanting the fantasmic dining package depending what time is the show, it might be full already.

I haven't tried H&V, but we LOVED Mama Melrose's. Even DS - who I dragged in there kicking and screaming (he wanted Sci Fi or counter service) was impressed.

Try again about 30 days before your date, the later times for the Fantasmic dining packages seem to open up around then.

Thanks! I'll try again then. The Fantasmic dinner is the only thing about my ADRs for the week that I'm not completely happy with. If I could get MM closer to 6:30 or 7:00 (how late do they seat for 9:00 Fanstasmic?) I'd be all set.

I was able to change my ressie for a later time closer to my fantasmic date. We went in Oct so there was only an early showing and all ressies were around 4:30-5:30. But I was able to push our time from 4:10 to 4:40 by calling every week or so to check availability. JJ

Is the fantasmic package included on Dining plan?

We did the package last time and thought it worked out great-
I hear alot of people think its silly to do package.
