I booked my trip yesterday(sept.21-29) and had been planning on the CR. But when it came down to the dollar amount, I couldn't really justify it, especially for a 7-8 day trip. I also wanted the Dining plan, so that was a factor, too. I stayed at POR last time and really enjoyed it, but I like to try different resorts. I ended up deciding on POFQ. The CR is nice, but I would have wanted a tower room and the amount for that was astronomical. Could have done it, but I would have been semi-mad at myself for spending that much. I figure I'll take the $1000 I saved and use it for other stuff. Maybe some tours or La Nouba, for example. I love that feeling when you finally book a trip-all the planning feels more legit, somehow!;)

I couldn't agree more. Take the money and run! Whenever I look at the prices I always think to myself, "Hmm. DDP or Deluxe plus whatever it's gonna cost in food." I always come back to whatever is going to make me comfortable, and if I'm at Disney worrying about my pocketbook all the time, how much fun am I really having anyway? :surfweb:

I'm struggling with the same thing right now. We have ressies at Beach Club and SSR (split stay - dh, ds-14, and me) and it would save us almost $800 to switch to POR. I'd love to save the money, but can't get past the double bed (dh is 6'3")/no balcony thing ...

We've stayed in moderates before, but I really hate the idea of keeping the blinds closed to have privacy -- I don't want to feel like we're in a cave for 7 nights! I just don't know if it's worth paying $800 more to have that sliding door for light, LOL!

In the final analysis, a Disney vacation is supposed to be fun. We'd all love to stay in the finest rooms. But, when I consider where I am having my fun, the room is secondary to all of the other activities we are experienceing in the World. Think how lucky you are to be able to stay in a Disney Resort rather than off property.
When I was younger, the only way I could afford to go at all was to stay at a cheap motel, so I could pay for the plane and park tickets. That was not nearly as much fun as being surrounded by the magic even while not in the parks.
Don't beat yourself up. Even the moderates have something to offer, whether it's theming, a great pool, or boat access to DTD. Relax and enjoy the Disney Magic!

I could not agree more, i have stayed twice at a Deluxe and POP twice, and i believe that i had a better time staying at POP knowing i had not spend a thousands of dollars on just a room.......

Brooke:)

We usually go through the same dilema. There have been two deluxe resorts that we have been able to stay at so far, and the rest were moderates. This year I am hoping that we could stay at WL or AKL, but if the price is higher than I expect, then we will try out CSR. But, in the end it doesn't matter to us, because we are fortunate to be going as much as we do. We would not be able to go as often if we always stayed in a deluxe.
