If you were employed there?

I would think that it would take away from the magic and imagination aspect of it, because you would know and see the inner workings of everything.

I, personally couldn't do it and still feel the MAGIC!

Just my opinion.
What do you think?

If my plans for next winter work out, I'll let you know then! :flower:

No problem, hope to retire down there and work at WDW the days I'm not working at WDW I will be visiting WDW. :goodvibes  :flower: :sunny:

When I move down, I want to work at one of the resorts....near the Magic, but not too close!

We were waiting for the boat at the International Gateway at Epcot, when we struck up a conversation with a very friendly older couple. It turns out, they were CM's who were spending their day off at the park!!! They were retired, had moved to Florida, both applied for jobs at Disney, and now they both work at the Test Track gift shop. They spoke with such high praise about their jobs, and when we said we were surprised they would spend their day off at the park, they both said there was no other place they'd rather be. Sometimes on their days off, they told us, they use the park passes they get as benefits, and take low income elderly people around the parks. They said they love to share the magic with people who would not be able to afford the tickets on their own. They were such wonderful people, and we could tell they really loved WDW!

I probably could still enjoy it, but only if I were not relying on it for my primary income.

Same here. I would never be able to enjoy it if it were my primary income, sorry.. that's the truth.

I've often thought about this. Perhaps if I were working in the Florist shop or in the wedding biz., or something "behind" the scenes like that. I probably wouldn't want to work in the parks because I do think I would lose the magic.

I am sure a lot of people can but I think for me it would take away from the magic. Just a thought.

My Dh was a CM. He still has the Magic. If anything it made it stronger.

Speaking from experience, you can work there and still have the magic. However, I would say that it changes the magic alot. I have a brand new perspective on making the magic. When you have that nametag and do something for someone, you can't go back! :earsboy: However, it is very strange now in that I don't have the access and capabilities anymore. It still is great, and if you take the time to act in the way we all expect CM's should, you take extreme pride in the company. It really does become a part of you, just in a different way. I, too, hope to return sometime to the company in some capacity eventually.

In 15-20 years DH & I plan to be doing the very same thing!!!! :goodvibes

No, it wouldn't be the same.

We only go every two years so that the magic builds up for us in between that much more.

And we go in December to avoid the heat. Texas is bad enough. If I'm moving to work somewhere, it's going to have to be north! :teeth:

Oh, and a shameless plug for votes on the Community Board (not for me, but for your participation): what would you want to be bribed with? Lots of Gifts called the 12 Days of Disney, a trip for a Make A Wish child, or a week's trip for you to WDW? Vote now!! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=828973

I would love to work at Disney in the summer when I'm not in school. I've thought about doing that in two years when I'm finished with my Masters! :)

LOL - and since I'm from the north I can't wait for warmer weather! :sunny:

I could. I've taken the backstage tours and know several CMs and none of the magic is missing for me! I would kill to be an Imagineer!!!

I definitely think I could. I can only imagine how magical it must be to walk through the behind the scenes areas of Disney. To see how it's all created and to feel like somehow I was a part of that. It would be even more magical for me to be a CM in Disneyland. To really see the vision through Walt's eyes would be my ultimate magic.

Without a doubt! I would love nothing more than to have a chance to give some Disney Magic to guests like it has been given to us. Seeing the faces everyday of guests when they see Cinderella Castle for the first time, watch Mickey defeat the Villans in Fantasmic! seeing the families gather around World Showcase to watch Illuminations, seeing that special character or watching somone's child kiss Mickey on the nose..... just being a part of that...I can't imagine a better feeling. :goodvibes

I would love to work at WDW. To be surrounded by the magic everyday would set me into nirvana. I know it is work and like every other job, you will have your bad days but it would still be better than what I am doing now.
