Could YOU Make It On "Jeopardy!"?

My Mom and I were both trivia fanatics... you know, the type you NEVER play Trivial Pursuit with??? :rotfl2:

No one likes to sit with me during Jeopardy either... or Millionaire. I ruin it for people. Why? My mind is a locked file of USELESS INFORMATION!! If I ever learned it I never forget it.

My problem? GEOGRAPHY!!! I am a complete DOOFUS at geography. I just have a block when it comes to that subject. I have a nightmare that the day I show up on Jeopardy all of the subjects will be about Bodies of Land or Water... :scared: It will knock me right out!!!

Not to sound cocky, but... Yes.

I was captain of our high school quiz (we called it Hi-Q) team and was very good at it. I know lots of useless information.

I actully auditioned for Jeopardy in April 2005 in Tampa and by my tally only missed 5 questions too many. Lots of fun. Gotta study up on my Southeast Asian Literature! (Not kidding... one of the questions was on that subject!)

If you ever watch the show and see someone have a bad day and think, "Boy, they seem kind of stupid. How did they make it on the show?" Just remember that the written test that everyone has to pass is 50 questions long, and each question is a Final Jeopardy calibre question, and each question comes from a different category. So you cannot rely on your strengths - you have to be able to score at least a 35 out of 50 on the written exam before you can pass into the next round where they take groups of 3 (IF that many people pass! In my group only two passed out of 75+ test takers...) and do a brief mock game with the board and judges and buzzers and everything to see how you react under some pressure. From there, if they like you, your file goes into a list to POSSIBLY be chosen to be on the show for that year.

Anyone who can answer 35 out of 50 questions on the exam is more than capable of making it onto the show, even if they have a bad day once they get there. Maybe they can't handle the pressure of the cameras and the audience, etc. Who knows.

Anyway, next time the auditions roll around nearby (within a 6 hour drive preferably) I will be trying out again. And if I don't pass that one, I'll try out again the next year. If the show continues, I think that someday before I die you will see me on the show and that I will at least make a good showing for myself - as long as there aren't too many literature or politics questions. :sad2:
