Could you hold 3 fastpasses at once?

For example:
Pull Star Tours at 1pm with a return time of 4:55
Pull Indiana Jones at 3:00pm with return time of 6:40
Pull BTMRR at 5:00pm with a return time of 7:30

Trying to wrap my head around this.

Yes. Subject to availability. I'd be surprised if you'd get a ST return time that early at 1pm or a Indy return that early at 3pm. But if there's FP available and you're eligible to pull an FP you could do it.

Ok, just wanted to be sure. Still totally working in hypotheticals, but it's a new system for me (fp+ is easier to plan around but I think I'll like fp- better once I get in the park).

Given the two parks are disconnected you can hold more than 3. You could have WOC, RSR, then go to DL get a Star Tours and Buzz FP at the same time.

Technically I am sure there are lots of scenarios but it all depends on return times and if you have park hoppers and of course how strategic you are I guess.

You cannot keep a FP and return to use it after the return time window has closed - that is no longer allowed.

I could probably come up with all kinds of scenarios with disconnected ones and two parks! I just meant in a more straightforward sense with the regular rules.

Do they allow a 10 minute grace period after your time ends like at WDW? You never know with kids and last-minute pit stops.

DLR does not have a official grace period (before or after the time window opens), so it's up to the discretion of the CM. You cannot count on being given one, so you need to make sure you arrive during your FP window.

The only other major caveat I've read is that you cannot hold two FPs for the same attraction at the same time. So using your example, if at 3:00 pm you pulled the Indy FP for 6:40 pm, you could not get another Indy FP at 5:00 pm. You would have to wait until 6:40 pm to get another Indy FP (when the time window opens).

This is helpful, thank you!

I'd not count on any grace period - especially for more popular rides and during busier times - I have seen people turned away because their fast past time window had closed - I'd make an effort to get there before your window closes including allowing time for any last minute pit stops, especially for a ride where FPs run out such as RSR or Space.

Keep in mind that even though WOC is technically called a fastpass, holding a WOC fastpass does not affect your ability to pull a FP for rides and attractions.

Just keep collecting your next one as soon as possible! I kind of watched the return times in the app, especially early in the day when return windows were really close, like within an hour, then I could pull my second one asap and use the first one at the end of the first window, and then get one for DCA! Lots of running and I even gained a blister for my hustling!

I know, that is why I threw it in there - as an example of a disconnected FP, same as Buzz but I guess I should have pointed that out in my example.

Just to throw in a couple more comments. As someone pointed out, Buzz Lightyear fastpass is disconnected, so you can get that even if your fastpass window hasn't opened yet.

I haven't tried to use a grace period, but I agree with other posters that I have definitely seen people turned away. You can use your fastpass anytime after the window though if the ride was temporarily closed during your return time.

I'm trying to wrap my brain around this too!

I've always thought I couldn't pull another FP until the start of the return time, am I mistaken? How would this work for Hyperspace Mountain? I'm going in 2 weeks on a Friday and we won't get into the park until noon. I checked today and at noon return time was around 4 pm. When could I pull again? Thanks!

My understanding is that if your return time is more than 2 hours away, you can pull again in 2 hours. The FP should say the time you can pull the next one on there: http://dlrprepschool.com/a-fastpass-guide-for-disneyland-and-california-adventure/

You can pull your next FP two hours after you pulled the current FP OR when the time window opens, whichever happens first.
  • At 9:00 am, you pull a HSM FP for 10:30 am -> you can get your next FP at 10:30 am (when the time window opens)
  • At 9:00 am, you pull a HSM FP for 1:00 pm -> you can get your next FP at 11:00 am (two hours later)
There are a few caveats:
  • You cannot hold two FPs for the same attraction. So in the second example, at 11:00 am you could not get another HSM FP.
  • There are two disconnected FPs at this point (WoC in DCA and Buzz Lightyear in DL). You can get these without impacting your ability to get any other FP. So it's not uncommon for guests to grab a Buzz FP on their way to get getting a HSM or Star Tours FP because of proximity.
  • The two parks are disconnected from each other. So you could get a FP in DL and then immediately hop over to DCA a FP in that park (or vica-a-versa). It's not uncommon for folks to grab an RSR FP and a WoC FP at opening and then hop over to DL to get a HSM FP and Buzz FP (or vice-a-versa).

It is whichever comes first - 2 hours or the return time for the last FPs you pulled has opened.

Example:

Arrive at the park at 12:00PM - pull FP for Space with a return time of 4:00PM
At 2:00 PM you can pull a FP for Star Tours and say the return time is for 3:00
At 3:00 PM, even before you ride Star Tours, you can pull another FP for another attraction, then go back and ride Star Tours and then say ride Space and then your window for the 3rd FP may have opened up.

It all depends on return times, it is a good idea, if time allow, to pull a FP for a subsequent ride, if your ride window opens up before the two hour mark BEFORE you go and actually use your current Fast Pass - as while Fast Passes are great, you can use the time you are spending waiting in the FP line and riding the ride towards getting to the window for the next fast pass.

Hope that all makes sense - not sure if it does. o_O

Wow! Thanks you guys, for all the explanations! I have been in the park 8 times in last 2 months and I had NO idea! LOL! Now I know!

I almost always run to DCA to pull FP for RSR for us after we've entered Disneyland and got our first fast pass pulled but I didn't know about this.

I actually have to set alarms on my iPhone so that I can keep track of everything -- when I can get another FP, when my window opens for the FP(s) I'm currently holding, when I might have to be back for Jedi Training or a dining reservation, etc. You really need to stay on the FP window so that you can maximize how many you can grab in a day.

If you look at the passes, they state when you're next eligible to pull another one (for a different attraction if the window will not have opened yet for the pass you currently hold).

Like Lisa, I set alarms in my phone (calendar events) to remind me when my next pass can be pulled (and which park) and when my windows open for held FPs. I find it very helpful and keeps me on track to play the game correctly.
