DD is 38.5 weeks pregnant and has been in early labor for 3 days. Two trips to the hospital but it is not progressing. The contractions are now 10 minutes apart but irregular and her dilation is not progressing. She does not meet the criteria for induction until 39 weeks, unless her labor becomes actively progressive. That has not happened in 3 days. Of course, we don't want the baby to come until he is ready but this long labor is wearing her out.

My 80-yr old parents are our only family. Her in-laws are completely unable to help and her not-so-DH is in prison for domestic violence against her. My parents were going to take the 7yr old while I went to the hospital with DD. They have a beautiful relationship with her and it was to be a perfect fit. DD's church parenting group signed up to take turns caring for her 20-month old. We thought we had all the bases covered.

Here are the problems:
1) My parents have the flu, so DGD can't go there.
2) DGS has pink-eye, so we don't want to take him to a house with other children until his next dose of medicine. which will be 24 hrs and he should be "good to go".
3) My DH is working and can't help with the kids.
4) Her Doc wants her to come in to be checked.

DGD is going home with a friend after school but I think I will have to take DGS to the hospital with us. I have 4 herniated discs with a pinched sciatic nerve, so keeping him happy and taking care of her will be painful.

I know God has a plan. Could He please write it on the wall for me?!?!?!?!

Off to the hospital for the 3rd time in 3 days.......

Sending prayers and positive thoughts.

 to you. I don't understand why they can't induce. She is far enough along as long as babes lungs are good which at this point they should be. I would be more concerned about the length of labor if shes going for days. Has her water broke and if so is she on antibiotics? Dr. should be able at this point to move things along. Im surprised they aren't.

I had my ds at 37 weeks and dd2 at 37 1/2 weeks, both perfectly healthy. Is a c/s possible?

:hug:Prayers and good thoughts headed your way.

Will be sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers to your DD.

Sounds like maybe what I went through. My midwife teased me about my "irritable uterus." Google podromal labor. My midwife finally got me going into REAL labor after I went to the hospital 3x in 2 days with contractions less than 3 minutes apart that WHOLE TIME. But I stayed dilated to only 4cm so they kept sending me home.

That was with my 4th child. Midwife blamed "irritable uterus" on having several pregnancies in a few years.

With my first child, I had contractions every 10 minutes or so for almost exactly a week. I remember my OB at the time, saying that it's not uncommon with first babies especially...which is why they say to not come to the hospital till 5 minutes apart, for most people. Something about the uterus "exercising" and "practicing" for full-blown labor. 6 days later, my water broke at home and BOOM. Within 3 hours, contractions were 3-4 minutes apart.

If your dd is struggling with prodromal labor, have her drink enough water to maintain good hydration. Sometimes dehydration (even borderline) can irritate the body enough to throw things off.

You sure have your hands full. I'll keep your dd and her baby in my prayers. It sounds like your family has been through a lot already.

New DGS was born at 4:05pm and is very healthy and very much full-term! OB broke her water at 2pm and everything snowballed rapidly. 7# 11oz and no stitches.

The other 2 children were taken care of by friends, so we are all breathing easier now.

Thanks for the support!
