My 6yo DD is having to go pee pretty often - this morning was about every 1/2 hour, not quite so much this afternoon. She said that it didn't hurt when she went but would only go a little. She's not running any fever or doesn't seem sick.

The reason I am worried is she wasn't drinking anymore than she usually did and she has had a couple UTI's in the past but always had pain then.

Any ideas???? Can you have infection with no pain or fever??

It could be. My DD had a horrible time with recurrent UTI's when she was younger. Many times the only hint I had that one was coming on was peeing frequency. If it keeps up, call the doc.

It could be. My DD (3 1/2) had a UTI a few months ago and it wasn't until after she was diagnosed and on meds for a day that she had any pain. The way I could tell she had a UTI, besides constantly going to the bathroom, was I had her go into a ziploc bag to take to the doctor and her urine was really cloudy and smelly. See if you could get your daughter to go into a clear plastic container and you'll probably be able to tell if she has a UTI. Hope she feels better.

My dd has dealt with UTI since birth she has kidney reflux which she has had the surgery to fix that but she had lots of UTI. And she had alot of infections without pain or fever, the only way i knew was she went to pee very often. i would call your ped and ask if you can come in and have her urine tested. you don't need to see a dr for that.the nurse does it and they can give you the main results in ten minutes.

Oh poor thing...

It could be a UTI or simply constipation. This exact thing was happening to my DD11 and when we brought her in AGAIN for the same thing when the urine dips came back negative, they decided to xray her and found her extremely "backed up". SHe complained of having to go and couldn't, it would burn a bit, etc..

Hope she's feeling better real soon and you find out what the problem is.

YEARS ago there was either a study or just a doctor who told my mother to give us cranberry juice to help with UTIs. They may have "disproven" this since then, though.

I've found when DD starts with the symptoms you've described - without the fever - she's usually just at the beginning stages of one. (i.e. If left alone, it usually develops into one.) Anyway, I just open a bottle of cranberry juice (any flavor will do) & make sure this is the main thing she drinks for a couple of days. If you catch it early enough, the juice seems to stop it.

FWIW
