could someone please walk me through on how to get pre tsa

https://www.tsa.gov/precheck

Pick one of three providers - Idemia, Telos, or Clear. It looks like Idema has the most locations. You may wish to check by location first, before clicking on the button that says "Apply Now" which is underneath each provider. I don't know what zip code you live at, but I did a check on Idemia for enrollement centers in Orlando, FL, and it came up with six locations within 20 miles.

So, I clicked "Apply Now" under Idemia, then went to New Enrollment, which then brings me to Step 1 of 4 for the online application.

thanks for the reply starry solo
I folllowed your instructions which did bring me to an application

but now Im confused since theres a location came up thats like 5 miles
but when I did search by the address
all that was said for this place was
for drug testing

clear is the one that you have to get an account before at least I think its before you get to the application page since thats what comes up and i cant go any farther until I do that first

is one place better then the other
thanks again

wanted to add the clear is at the airport which can be a hassle

I have no idea. I paid the extra money to get Global Entry ($100 vs $78) and had to go to a global entry location. I also had to create an account. But that takes a bit longer to do than TSA pre check.

There's nothing that requires you to go to the closest location.

For that matter, did the list not give a business name? Or is the address possibly an office building that has multiple renters?

I just enrolled. Thanks @Dznypal for starting this thread. :thumbsup2

It would be awesome if I get my known traveler number back before next Wednesday so I won't have to take off my shoes or remove my ipad. :rotfl:

Keep us updated. I'd put your odds at getting the KTN by then at about 90%

we're going to go today and see what happens in the next week. We have Even More Speed in Boston which helps but Orlando doesn't so it would be nice to have TSA precheck there.

Hi Everyone, I am thinking about Pre Check, mostly for MCO because it may be easier for my adult daughter (anxiety, etc). I have my ID, do not have a passport. Will I need to bring my birth certificate to apply for this? Or my marriage certificate? LOL, Never mind....found all the info I need!

The location I went to years ago for apply for PreCheck was part of a truck driving school. If the location is on the PreCheck site, you will be able to do your PreCheck application there. The business just may provide other services.

Two things to keep in mind, when I got pre-check, I had to give my middle name. As far as I know, it needs to be on the boarding pass or pre-check may not link up. Also, because I had already booked the flight before I got pre-check, I had to call to have pre-check added to my boarding pass. This was with Southwest, not sure if it’s the same across the board.

My pre-check does NOT have my middle name. When I got my number and entered it for an upcoming flight, I did NOT have pre-check because the airline DID have my middle name. I ended up getting the airline to do FirstMiddle Last instead of First Middle Last (they couldn't just take out the middle) in order to get pre-check.

I hope the apostrophe in our name doesn't become a problem. Precheck has it but Jetblue doesn't. ughhh

Hopefully everybody here has helped but definitely go to the sites recommended through the TSA.GOV site and not any other 3rd party sites you find via online searches. My kids and my FIL all went through TSA.GOV and ended up either at the local Staples for the process or our Motor Vehicle Association. They had their number within days.

I had to do the same with Delta flights I had booked. My original ticket had been booked with just my middle initial and pre check had to use my middle name. Delta had no problems making that change to my ticket and adding the KTN to my account for the future.

not sure where I need to go to sign up for this

I did a search which brough up a gov page but for one I like to make sure Im at the right place
it first ask where Id like to go it says enrollment provider

there was a place at our airport for this
it says to fill out application on line and make an app

we leave for hawaii in 2 months and was hoping to possibly have it by then
any other advice would be appreciated thanks

We used to fly a lot. One time, we were told we didn't have to take our shoes off and to go on through. We had No idea Why that happened. One of the employees looked at our tickets and said that we had TSA pre. We were never informed of it. The employee said that sometimes when you reach a certain age they automatically give it to you. We were not that old:)
So, we never signed up for it and got it anyway?
Now that we don't travel as much, we don't get the automatic pre check like we once had.
It's a mystery. (We were not old - 50's)

The airlines sometimes give pre-check to passengers who fly frequently and are deemed low risk (not 100% sure how they do that, age may come into play). However, it is not guaranteed on every flight, it's random. Before I had Pre-check I would occasionally get it on my boarding pass, though I am not a senior or that old! 😂

When they were trying to drum up business for Pre-check, they'd randomly give it to some travelers.

If there are excess spots available for Precheck, there is an algorithm that will give Precheck to those that score lowest on the threat matrix score. Having those that have Precheck in your party, age, background checks previously performed, number of previous flights, round trip ticket, having a bag checked all figure into it. My mother has been getting it pretty regularly for the last 10 years, she's had the same FF number since the '70's, goes through annual background checks since she works in a school and it seemed to start about her mid 50's.

so on Wednesday afternoon we went to an Idemia location in a Staples and got our KTN's this morning (Friday). :thumbsup2

I had to call Jetblue and have the numbers added to all our current flights because I got an error message when trying to do it myself. I can now see the numbers on my future flights so hopefully it will all work next Wednesday when we fly. ;)

We used to get free Precheck all the time prior to Covid, but not since then. We almost exclusively fly Jetblue to Orlando, excited to be able to skip the lines in Orlando which can be long.

Check in 24 hours before you flight and look at your boarding pass, if it doesn't say TSAPRE on it, call JB and have them troubleshoot it. You don't want to be trying to figure that out while at the airport.
It doesn't affect you, but for others that get Pre: Add the KTN to all of your frequent flyer accounts, but you will have to add it to any flights that you already have booked, adding the number to your profile won't add it to any already ticketed trips, only new trips. And if you have any business travel through Concur, whatever Concur has in your profile will overwrite what's in your FF profile. I just had this happen to me and had to readd the number for an upcoming business trip.
