not sure where I need to go to sign up for this

I did a search which brough up a gov page but for one I like to make sure Im at the right place
it first ask where Id like to go it says enrollment provider

there was a place at our airport for this
it says to fill out application on line and make an app
or you can just walk in I suppose it goes faster with an app and form filled out on line

any ideas on long it takes then to get your pre tsa oked
we leave for hawaii in 2 months and was hoping to possibly have it by then
any other advice would be appreciated thanks

I'm pretty sure you have to make an appt for it. The only place near me that does it is only open a couple days a week and specific hours. The airport is different I am sure. Mine was approved in maybe 3-4 weeks.

TSA Precheck enrollment is done by private companies, I believe there are three of them now. Idemia is the most prevalent but there are a couple of others. You fill out the application online, make an appointment which is usually pretty quick. When you get to the appointment they check your ID, take your fingerprints and ask a couple of silly questions. Usually Precheck comes back within a couple days. My MIL signed up when they had an event at our small local airport, she enrolled two months before her Hawaii flight and had it within 96 hours of walking out of the appointment.

thanks for the link
that was the page that came up when I did a search
theres choices
clear
idemia
telos
what is the difference I think I would need clear but not sure

Idemia is the one that has been at it the longest and has the most enrollment centers. CLEAR appears to only do it at the airport if they already have CLEAR. Telos I've never heard of.
When I got my Precheck in 2019 it was through Idemia, they also are the ones that do the pop up about once a quarter at my local airport.

I don't even remember doing it through a particular company when I got PreCheck back in 2016 . . .

doing some checking around on the link
out of the 3 it seems clear I need to set up an account
after I do this then do I set up an app

idemia has a location that I beleive it better then going to the airport maybe less busy
the telso only shows closest is in IL
so outo fo the 2 does it matter which one
do we fill out the on line first or just walk in
Ill have to see what this place is thats probably closer
thanks fo all the help
weve been talkingabout doing this since we got back from wdw in Jan and here we sit

Fill out the online first and get that submitted. Makes everything after easier. I don't think you need an account for the Precheck application, you have to have an account to do a Global Entry application, but that is all done by CBP. For Precheck you just fill out the app online and choose an appointment time.
Anyone that got Precheck prior to 2022 it was through Idemia, or as they used to be known, Identogo. They've been doing the background checks for Airport workers for a long time and up until 2022 they were the only company authorized to do the background checks for Precheck.

Ahh, Identogo sounds familiar. That must have been who I did it through, then, thanks!

Went to the clear website and you have to create an account even if applying just for PreCheck through clear.

One of the many reasons I'd never get it through CLEAR. Actually having to go to the airport to get enrolled would be another, so I've never looked at their process.

You fill in your zip code and will find out the nearest location. Many Staples and AAA offices enroll.

Pick whichever of the 3 enroll at the best location for you.

Process is pretty easy. First you fill out the application online. Then make an appointment for an interview. Go for the interview taking the documents that you need (birth certificate, driver's license, passport, marriage license). Approval can come within hours or a couple weeks. My mom and I had appointments at the same time - I was approved the next day, hers took 2 weeks.

sorry for all the dumb questions but i just want to make sure Im doing this right
not sure why some of you said you didnt need to set up an account but when I click on the apply button it says you first need to set up an account this is with clear
I also rechecked the idemia which does list an address close to home but when I searched the address
all that comes up for this place is for drug testing

I must be missing a step since I cant seem to find any application
thanks
