Could Someone Please Explain/Help

Hi All,
I have done some scrapbook but not a whole lot, have had several recent trips to the World with one upcoming in March, would love to make myself a scrapbook of the trip, however, I do not have a lot of Disney related scrapbook stuff, my question is, I see that you have swaps here, but I am not sure what they are and I have nothing to offer, but didn't know if I needed to offer something or if I could buy stuff from all of you for a lower price, if someone could please explain it would help me so much, also if you all don't have stuff for lower here, where is the best place to buy Disney related scrapbooking stuff fairly inexpensive, thanks for all the help.

swaps are where you make things and "trade" w/ others. it's a good way to scrap, cuz you're basically making 8 or 10 (or how many ever the swap is for) of the same thing, and mail it all out to a host (of the swap), and the host will mail you back 8 or 10 items of other people's creations (including your own that you made). hope this makes sense. there are many various swaps that you can join, depending on your interest. there are lots of wdw swaps, character swaps, epcot swap, etc. you just have to look for the various swaps out there. there is a sticky on top for the swap calendar.

the thing is, it's easy to sign up for swaps. but there are deadlines, and you must mail your stuff out by certain dates, and everyone in the swap is counting on you (those who sign up for swaps) to follow thru w/your part of the swap deal.

there are many (i mean MANY) helpful ladies here that can help you more! i remember when i did my very first swap...and i had TONS of questions! and everyone was so helpful.

There is a swap photo gallery at the top of this page with links to photos of various swap items, very handy and a great source for ideas.

If you have pictures to scrap of your trips, you will see that there are many, many creative ways displayed there to showcase them without having actual 'Disney' supplies.

Swaps are fun and we have some for newbies so read through the stickies in the swap forum the get some more info. As for stuff to buy, there is a small amount of stuff you can buy at Downtown Disney, the resorts and the parks. Avoid the paper packs but some of the embellishments are cute.
Also Michael's and ACMoore both carry Disney stuff, ACMoore has more though. The online place I buy from is www.mousememories.som they have a lot of disney stuff. And www.scrapyourtrip.com too.

Thank you for explaining. I guess this really wouldn't work for me as I don't have anything to offer in the swap. Hopefully I will be able to find some supplies that I need to do a Disney book at a reasonable price somewhere. If anyone has extras and extras and are willing to help me out, feel free to please PM me.

You could join one of the "envelope" swaps, as they are not necessarily Disney-based so you could offer up some spare bits and ask for Disney in exchange. There was a 39 cent swap last summer if you want to have a look and see how it worked - some people asked for Disney but lots were looking for other subjects such as sport or pets.

I'm doing a 37p swap - but that is the UK postage rate so it would cost you a bit more.

I also got a good deal from E-Bay - look for sellers who also have an online swap, as they often have "buy it now" stuff and will combine postage. I have had some great stuff from Heavenly Hugs & Kisses - you can search within categories by online store, or just look at the general listing and when you see something you like click on "view other items". Be warned though, its addictive!
