I am sorry but I do not understand this. I tried reading the web site but I guess it's just one of of those days. Thanks for any help.

There used to be a Skyauction tutorial here, maybe "search" will bring it up. The website is confusing at first, but if you spend a little time following auctions, you'll get the hang of it. Their website is www.skyauction.com and they have auctions called Steak & Stay and Basta Pasta. Just click on the "Auctions Closing Soon" tab near the righthand side of the main screen. You bid per certificate and can choose 1-5 certificates. The service fees on each auction are $195 + $20 + $15 + the amount of your bid. The certificates you get are worth $100 for steakhouses around the country (or pasta places, depending on which you bid on), one of which is in Orlando. After you've paid for your aucton win, they UPS a letter to you with your certificate number. You log onto www.getawayweeks.com to see what weeks are available at what places. If you see something you like, you call the toll free number on the certificate and give them the certificate #, the place you want to stay and the dates. They confirm the information and mail you the final papers.

I'm new to bidding on these particular auctions (used to bid the ready, set go auctions before the fees were raised) so I overbid a little when I bid $26 for each one -- I've seen them go for as little as $1!

Pat (Spiceycat) on these boards has a ton of info on Skyauction and usually answers when someone asks a question. The key to Skyauction is that you have to be flexible -- if you're looking to go at a peak time like Christmas or Spring Break, you won't find anything. But if you can be a little flexible, we've gotten some really great deals and have never been disappointed in any of the places we've stayed.

HTH. If you have any questions, just ask. If I can't answer them hopefully someone else will.

Just wanted to add a few notes from recent personal experience. I won a Land & Seafood auction last week and there was no information at all (that I could find) on how or when your vacation certificate would be sent to you. It came by UPS a little over a week after I won, along with the restaurant gift certificate. Of course, by then the condo I had wanted was gone from getawayweeks.com. Fortunately, it reappeared yesterday and I booked it then.

We've done the Ready Set Go auctions in the past and have always had a good experience. It's wonderful to stay in a 2 BR condo with a kitchen and washer and dryer for under $250 for a week! But with the increased fees, this time we went with Land & Seafood. About the same price as RSG used to be, and we did get the location we were hoping for. And it will be nice to try the Salt Island restaurant -- has anyone else eaten there with the gift certificate?
