I read what is on Disney's site, and then I called. The CM I spoke with sounded bored with her job and she read off to me what I had just read on the site. I asked some other questions and she didn't have any answers. So could my diser's who have done this explain what happens or what to expect. Is it worth it? I am only considering it at this time. Tickets are not bought yet.

Thanks for your help! :thumbsup2

I haven't been yet but we are going there this coming Halloween! From what I do know, you can get into the park as early as 4pm if you have the tickets. You are given treat bags there to do trick or treating with (and adults can trick or treat too!) I hear that TONS of candy can be had by the end of the evening! There are special parades and fireworks, dance parties, as well, many of the rides are still open! Not all but most people do dress up somewhat. You are given a map that shows the party locations and trick or treat stops.
Is it worth it? I think and hope so, but will find out soon enough for sure!
Thats all I can tell you, perhaps someone who's BEEN can add to this.

Do you have any other more specific questions? We have been to all of the parties and enjoy them all, but we enjoy them the most late in the evening when all of the families with little kids have left!!

We took our girls this past year. Even with the rain we experienced, it was awesome! We tried to concentrate on the party exclusive things, and not so much the rides (although we did ride HM). We saw the characters, went trick-or-treating, watched the parade and the fireworks and went to one of the dance parties. We loved it so much that we would definitely do it again. My girls were 5 and 10m when we went and they loved it, expecially the parade!

Our FAVORITE special event. Yes, they usually let you in around 4, so we do not burn a park ticket that day, we will probably do Downtown Disney and the pool prior to the party. We have a 430p ADR at Crystal Palace for dinner. You will be given a wristband(unless this has changed)and CM's will be wanting to see this as they try to move non-ticketed guests from the park. There are various t-o-t spots as the prev poster mentioned. Generally, the lines for attractions are short--my son rode the Barnstormer many times in a row, a few times we never even had to get off... Many do wear costumes although no full face covering masks are allowed, ds was a jedi but dh didn't dress at all and I wore a Halloween tshirt. There are also a couple places to have free face painting done which I want to do this year(try to get there as soon as they start doing it). The parade is fun, be there for the very beginning to see the Headless Horseman ride past. Love Hallowishes fireworks, we even have the CD of the party music!! There are various character meet&greets. You will get a map and time schedule as you enter, it will show t-o-t locations and such. And the decorations you see in the day time are augmented for the party, it's just amazing--they change statues and everything! I just love it--can you tell?! As for the candy, the later it gets, the more they give you, they aren't allowed to save it for the next event so they have to give it or toss it... Any more Q's just ask. We will be there 10/6(I think, it's a Tues). Oh--a mid week party will be less crowded than Fri or Sat, though they only sell so many tickets, I still prefer the least amt of crowd possible!! And Halloween night will sell out if it isn't already.

I am going to give a negative perspective!

We watched the parade and the firework show on youtube - AWESOME! We made adr's for Liberty Tree Tavern around 5 (well before the party, but we got in the park with tickets at 4!!) We took my parents, who dressed for the party!!

All good!

But the negative - it was hot, humid and CROWDED! the first parade was cancelled due to rain - the lines for the "penny" candy were long, and some adults pushed dd out of their way to get one midget tootsie roll from each bin!!

We enjoyed the transit authority the best - above the crowds! That CM directed us over to the path behind Indy Speedway - so we walked to Toontown to go in order - they had Mad hatter characters - a CM yelled at us that TT was closed and passed dd bedtime! (I think it was 11 before the fireworks show? or maybe it was right after!) I was in tears! the first area giving out candy saw we had empty bags - and literally filled the bag full -

but when I got back to our room and realized that most of the candy dd wouldnt eat - I thought it was a very expensive bag of candy!

So now we go to MK leave at 7 - enjoy the atmosphere - ate at Crystal Palace in costume - and I shipped candy down by UPS to ourselves! The price of the MNSSHP have increased to the point, we cant justify it - I'm glad we did it once, but we just didnt get the elation that so many posters here do!!

so its all about perspective!

So does the park close at 4 or 6 on the days of the halloween party? Yikes, so much info to process, lol!

I think the park technically closes at 7 but you can get in at 4 w/your party ticket.
Sandy 321, I think if I had your experience, I would agree. I don't think I would go on a night closer to Halloween and weekends when more locals are likely to be there. As for the candy, at first they were super stingy, and I thought it was a waste but towards the end they start being more generous and we did end up w/a good amt but I agree, I would NOT go just because of the candy, in fact, I really had to go through it, some things were very sticky and I threw a lot away, not that we need to eat it anyway, lol. And I do wonder if people who can't have sugar are really annoyed by this because there wasn't really any alternative to candy.
My experience was really good, we do take advantage of the rides because we don't really like dance parties though we did check them out, and waiting on line to see characters(there are still lines for that). The characters are in costume which is cute.
Like everything in Disney, it is about perspective and the experience on any given night. It's a shame that it can't be more universally positive given the amt of money we all spend. As for the rude cast member--my goodness no one asked for their commentary on what time a little girl who paid for her ticket should stay up till while ON VACATION...sheesh!
So, OP, as with anything, there are pros and cons, if it is in the budget, definitely try it, if not, I love Sandy's idea of making a special time of celebrating on your own.
Have fun either way!

We went in 2007 and it was a lot of fun.
The crowds at the party were the largest we experienced the entire week.
The fireworks were fireworks and the parade was really neat. All the characters were dressed in costumes and you could take some great pictures in front of the carriage. The candy was just that candy and you do get a lot, if that's important to you. The rides are open later but the lines were long and moving around was a bit hard. There is free face painting and it was awesome. Also most of the kids were dressed up but not many adults.
If you have a tight budget, SKIP IT. Instead I would highlight the fall decorations during the day, get to bed early and get to the park early the next day.( you can always pay for face painting and buy your kids a bag of candy)
If you have extra money to blow this is a great event and some of the features are worth it to see.
We have been to this event , The christmas and new years ones.
The halloween one is my fav. Do it once in you life.
The parade is AWESOME but kinda scary for little ones.
My boys were 5 and 7.

We are going back this October and we won't be going back to party mostly because of cost.pirate:
I hope this helps.:wizard:
